My parents asked me if I am gay
I said, "Does it matter?"
They said, "No, not really."
I told them, "Yes."
They said, "Get out of our lives."
I guess it mattered.
My boss asked me if I am gay.
I said, "Does it matter?"
He said, "No, not really."
I told him, "Yes."
He said, "You're fired, faggot."
I guess it mattered.
My friend asked me if I am gay.
I said, "Does it matter?"
He said, "No, not really."
I told him, "Yes."
He said, "Don't call me your friend."
I guess it mattered.
My partner asked, "Do you love me?"
I said, "Does it matter?"
He said, "Yes."
I told him, "I love you."
He said, "Let me hold you in my arms."
For the first time in my life something matters.
My God asked, "Do you love yourself?"
I said, "Does it matter?"
He said, "Yes."
I asked, "How can I love myself? I am gay."
He said, "That's the way I made you."
Nothing again will ever matter.
How long can we ignore this epidemic. How many more boys or girls will turn to violence after being taunted, abused, beaten and rejected for their real or perceived sexual orientation after having no one to turn to after years of socially and religiously accepted and encouraged psychological terrorism?
There are been school bulling and abused since school were started way back when. The only different today is that the Parents are not Parenting, since there are so many laws that makes it virtual impossible to discipline our kids today's society.
Name calling has been done to all, the heavy kids called fat, the kids with glasses called four-eyes, those that was called nerd, geeks, freaks and so. Kids would go home and talk to their parents, which hardly ever happens now days, in most cases because Mommy and daddy are never home with them.
We are now see what happens when you spare the rod.
I wonder is the gay movement separate by equal?
I wonder this because of a piece I read tonight on Advocate.com. I was bit bore and decide to read past Commentary. The Commentary was written by Jasmyne Cannick, it was written back in July 2006. I guess if I call her a reverse racist I would be wrong and out of order, right.
Let me get this straight, no pun intended. Individuals who are not from black communities—and know little to nothing about our community and for the most part aren’t even remotely interested in really working with our community—know how to talk to blacks about marriage.
Well maybe if the black communities stop living in the damn past maybe things could be better then what is now. Also maybe if the Black community open up and allow true dialogue maybe there wouldn't be so much misunderstanding.
Then again the Black community does like to keep to its self doesn't it. Has the black community back to the days of Separate by Equal. It seems they want everything Separate these days, separate pride days, AIDS awareness groups and out reach centers.
then there is this point,
Every time I turn around, I’m hearing about coalition building—coalition building for whose benefit? Black gays would be better off building coalitions with the larger black community, but we can’t because every time we turn around the gay leadership is using their money to get in good with the black leadership and leaving us out of the picture completely.
Just stop and think if the so-powerful white gay community did nothing to built these coalitions and work by themselves they would be called by every black community leader a pack of racists. It seem sometimes you just can't win for losing.
If a large group of white LGBT members got together and held community events without including Blacks, what do you think the out cry from the black community would be. I tell you that it would be very ugly. Names would be called and Accusation would be made.
Come to think of it, I don't see the type of out reach that is done by the white gay community to the black community, coming back from the black gay community

Two Indianapolis residents were killed over the holidays. While details aren't definite, it would appear one or both individuals were specifically targeted. If the double slaying is a hate crime, nothing will be done about it. Indiana doesn't have a hate crimes law; instead we have a "hate crimes reporting" law, but there is no recourse if police departments don't report to the state. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department stopped documenting hate crimes years ago.
Michael Hunt, 22, and Avery Elzy, 34, were found shot to death in "a bedroom." A dog in the room was also killed. While any murder is horrific, the IMPD's statements and news coverage of the homicide have been particularly heinous. Once again, Indianapolis is proving to the LGBT community that our city isn't sensitive to our concerns, lacks basic knowledge of our needs, and could absolutely care less.
I wonder if they could have been targeted for another reason. However the LGBT community will said it was because she was trans-gender.
What if, it was one of her past boyfriends who didn't want to let her go, would it still be a hate crime in our eyes. What if it was about drugs? Why is the LGBT Community and other media outlets so quick to call it a hate crime? Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. Lets wait to see what facts will turn up before labeling it a hate crime, shall we.
You be the Judge, Do these 21 delegates of the Mr Gay World contest all look alike, and do these really represent the whole community?
To me they all fit the cookie cutter image. Seven of the twenty-one don't fit the twink image. They are all young, there are a few that is over 30, shocking isn't it. However I feel the LGBT isn't fully counted for.
During the stage competitions and particularly in the personal interviews, the jury will focus on the delegate who:
shows an interest in the world and people around him;
displays patience, has a compassionate and considerate nature;
embraces change, or things and people different from his own frame of reference, experience or cultural background;
can articulate his thoughts and conduct an intelligent conversation;
has a basic innate charm and sparkle;
is special, and authentic;
has poise and is secure with himself, without coming across as arrogant;
is the ambassador that his nation and local community is proud of;
can be a diplomat of goodwill;
has natural leadership skills;
he inspires his peers and people around him;
is willing to take risks and become something larger than he had imagined;
is willing to have fun, push his personal comfort zones, and meet many wonderful people around the globe and be part of a very select and special group of men.
this is what I have a problem with,
The delegate will treat his body as his temple and will be active and outgoing. He will have impeccable grooming standards
So one must be fit, does that mean if one as a few extra pounds that they are not fits, now I'n not talking about those that may be very large, but those who may have love handles.. Grooming Standards?? So I guess this mean that they don't want to see much face hair and or body hair. For what I can see only two has facial hair, and it seems that all have smooth bodies. I guess waxing is a must.
However what will these 24 guys look like the day of the contest. All will be shaved have all body hair removed.
During the stages of the competition, and particularly in the personal interviews, the juries will focus on a man who:
- shows an understanding of the world and people around him
- of how he can help contribute to a more equal and respectful society for all;
- has respect for a range of views, but has confidence in expressing his own, when pursuing justice and well being for gay people in all societies;
- embraces cultural, linguistic, ability, gender, age, faith and sexual orientation diversity as norms to be promoted in a respectful world;
- can learn, articulate his thoughts and conduct an intelligent conversation even with people who do not share his views or values;
- could be the man any group or company would like to have as their representative;
- can be an ambassador of goodwill between all communities, by being visible, inspiring confidence and reinforcing understanding of the richness of cultural difference globally;
- is confident in his own values, attributes and opinion.- is respectful and careful of his appearance and well being.
How many of our community leaders and icons really fits this, i can think of one member of our community who embodies all the above, but he if was to run He would not even make it to the finals.
These so called contest are about looks only and nothing more then that.
The Mr. Gay World Pageant utilizes the concept of a 'beauty contest' to raise the self esteem and visibility of gay men internationally. The man eventually selected will join the ranks of the many positive role models in the international gay community and will help contribute to breaking the negative stereotype of being gay or different, which is used to justify lesser forms of human rights for gay people, an experience shared by many throughout the world.
Well who ever is chosen will not break one stereotype, that in the gay community it all about looks. Going by who ever wrote the above line, it means that as gay men we don't have self esteem unless we all look alike, that we must all be the same to have self esteem. Positive role models in the LGBT community don't need to be models at all. Which seem to the a requirement in these contests.
I have notice that they don't seem to ever be coming to NC at all. I would have to wonder why that is?? I mean we have military bases here, and I'm sure somewhere we are doing so play or event that they feel they need to speak out about.
I wonder if there isn't another reason why they chose to stay out of NC.. If anyone knows a reason please share it with me and the rest of the state..

In more than 200 years, the United States military has never included an openly gay chief. Growing national focus on GLBT civil rights has therefore made the Secretary of the Navy appointment a national issue in the struggle for equal representation. Also, it highlights the antiquated policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" which needs to repealed.
QUALIFICATIONS & ENDORSEMENTS:
William White is the most qualified candidate for the job.
Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld has named the main qualification for Navy Secretary as corporate, business, and managerial experience. William White certainly fills this criteria as he serves as a member of the Executive Committee and as Chief Operating Officer of the Intrepid Museum Foundation. A recipient of the 1996 Meritorious Service Award in recognition of his outstanding support of the United States Navy, White has dedicated his life to helping injured servicemen and the families of our fallen soldiers. In 1991 Bill White founded Operation Support which raised $400,000 in three months to aid the families of soldiers lost in the Persian Gulf War. This success led to White raising funds for the Intrepid Museum. In 1992, White’s passion and dedication to the Intrepid Foundation became a full time job managing all fundraising and development. White has hosted Presidents Ronald Reagan, George HW Bush and Bill Clinton along with world leaders such as Thatcher, Rabin and Yeltsin. Upon the death of museum Founder Zachary Fisher, White became the Intrepid Foundation President, assuming responsibility for advising the Fisher family in the management of their many military charitable organizations. You can read more about William White here: http://184.108.40.206/press_execbios-bwhite.html
Retired general Hugh Shelton, a former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said White "would be phenomenal." He added that White's extensive background as a fund-raiser for veterans' and military causes would be helpful in the job. Congressman Jerrold Nadler said White is "very capable" on the basis of observing his work at the Intrepid, located on the Hudson River, which is in Nadler's district. Nadler added that White has been a friend of service members and their families through his work with the museum and philanthropic efforts, according to The Washington Times.
I find it funny how many of these models started in porn under their porn names, then make it big and hen deny that it was them in the first place.
Gay for Pay, according to Wikipedia,
is a term used more commonly with male (and, less frequently, female) actors, pornographic stars, or sex workers that identify as heterosexual but are paid to act or perform gay professionally. The term has also applied to other professions and even companies with the same core concerns and criticism in place. The stigma of being gay or labeled as such has steadily eroded since the Stonewall riots began the modern gay rights movement in 1969. Through the 1990s, mainstream movie and television actors have been more willing to portray homosexuality, as the threat of any backlash against their careers has lessened and society's acceptance of gay and lesbian people has increased.I personally believe these young men don't want to be call a fag, or a homo, so they declared that they are str8, but they really are gay. They need to claim it was for the money, not for pleasure..
In the gay pornography industry, which uses amateurs as well as professional actors, gay-for-pay refers to actors labeled or believed to be straight who do gay sex scenes. Some actors who are actually gay or bisexual will be marketed as straight to appeal to the "allure of the unattainable", because straight men (or those newly coming out) are virgins to sex with other men, and "as in most gay male settings, the young, the muscular, and the unfamiliar are more sought."
Critics[who?] object to the term because many people define sexual orientation by which gender one is attracted to, regardless of which gender one has sex with. It is also a feature of internal heterophobia, ingraining the ideology that homosexuality is more desirable, because it is higher price.
Please take note of the tattoo, because that same tat is on the model in those pictures over at Ecoralguy's Blog, Click here to visit,
now is in this pic, he doesn't have a tattoo, either it was taken before the tat, or they air brush it out in photoshop. However in other photos from this site he has the tattoo. Click here to Visit Cisot Fotos,
Thierry Pépin, born on 1981 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is a model and actor. He studied modern dance when young, appeared in the movie "Danny in the Sky" in 2001, and just before the film's release became a model for Giovanni, Montreal's leading modeling agency.If you are gay just say you are, don't hide behind the money, by claiming I need the money. I'm str8, ok, if so then claim you are bi then.
That like all those honey frat boys who get drunk and stone then goes out had have sex with the boys, but still claim I'm str8, "it must have been the boozes and pot", but they always make it a point to tell the other boy don't tell no one... Meaning they don't want you to out them.. That they are really in the closet, and this is how they choose to have sex with the boys.

I'm also very interested to see this movie, as a person who successfully abandoned his homosexuality as a sexual-addiction, by facing up to the real underlying issues that caused such an addiction in me, and then dealing with those in legitimate, non-sexual ways.
You see, I view homosexual behavior as a sexual drug that is used to mask the pain of a deeper issue. And, for me at least, same-sex attraction (SSA) had absolutely nothing to do with sex! It had everything to do with those deeper relationship issues from my youth. I've met many other men who found out the same thing that I did, and also abandoned homosexual behaviors. But I've yet to see the movie that would dare, today, to approach this subject with any balance of truth and hard facts toward that reasoning. And so I'm also very skeptical of this one. Movies like this tend to be very politically-correct and one-sided in their approach to this very emotional subject, and they tend to portray the Christian faith in a very negative, unrealistic light, showing it to be fanatical instead of loving. The ironic thing is that the very fact that I've taken this balanced approach toward my own homosexual behaviors, now makes me the target of the very kinds of hatred and abuse from gay activists, that they claim to be trying to overcome themselves. And I've found that their idea of "tolerance" really means, "We’re tolerant of the views of other people only inasmuch as they conform to our own beliefs about the homosexual lifestyle."
For a more balanced look at homosexual addiction, might I suggest “Googling” the title, “Beyond the Shades of Gray,” for a look at my own personal account of freedom from this sexual addiction. And I’ll be adding commentary about this new, LMN movie to my own site, after seeing it in late January 2009.

I'm sure this will be a great TV Movie, but I wont have a lot of feeling for the mother in this story. My lover and I was talking about his on the way home from my sister's home today. I told him if I was able to be at an event with Her and the mother of Matthew Shepard, I would rather talk with Judy instead of Mary, For she accepted her son, where Mary basically drove her son to his death, only then after wards she gets a damn heart.
Being the first sign of the Chinese zodiac, rats are leaders, pioneers and conquerors. They are charming, passionate, determined, tenacious, charismatic, practical and hardworking. Rat people are endowed with great leadership skills and are the most highly organized, meticulous, and systematic of the twelve signs. Intelligent and cunning at the same time, rats are highly ambitious and strong-willed people who are keen and unapologetic promoters of their own agendas, which often include power, wealth, and status. They are energetic and versatile and can usually find their way around obstacles, and adapt to various environments easily. Quick-witted and sharp-tongued, Rats enjoy arguing, debating, and contesting other people's opinions. They are forthright, sometimes even tactless, but the Rat's natural charm and sharp demeanor make it an appealing friend for almost anyone, but rats are usually highly exclusive and selective when choosing friends and so often have only a few very close friends whom they trust.
Behind the smiles and charm, a strong sense of entitlement lurks deep within these people, and to go along with that, Rats can be arrogant and extremely deceptive and selfish. Rats at their worst are terribly Machiavellian, vindictive and power-hungry - always insisting on having things their way no matter what the cost. Their famed tenacity and determination can both quickly turn into terrifying flaws, as Rats often do not know how to accept defeat or failure. Power and control are two things a Rat both needs and wants, and it is impossible not to be struck, and even impressed, by the sheer ruthless, unapologetic, and shameless way in which they may pursue their ambitions. There is literally nothing a Rat will not do, say, think or feel to achieve their goals and ambitions. In addition, these people tend to have immense control of their emotions, which they may use as a tool to manipulate and exploit others, both emotionally and mentally. Although they appear cool and reserved on the surface, they have a volcanic temper, which can be quite disturbing to those few who may witness a Rat native's rage. They are masters of mind games and can be very dangerous, calculative and downright cruel if the need arises. Quick-tempered and aggressive, they will not think twice about exacting revenge on those that hurt or impede them in any way. Rats need to learn to relax sometimes, as they can be quite obsessed with detail, intolerant and strict, demanding order, obedience, and perfection.
A valuable lesson for Rats is to learn to consider others before themselves, at least sometimes, and to avoid forcing their ideas onto others. Rats are fair in their dealings and expect the same from others in return, and can be deeply affronted if they feel they have been deceived or that their trust has been abused. Sometimes they set their targets too high, whether in relation to their friends or in their career. But as the years pass, they will become more idealistic and tolerant. If they can develop their sense of self and realize it leaves room for others in their life as well, Rats can find true happiness.
Rats born during the day are said to have things a bit easier than those who are born at night. Traditionally, Rats born during the night may face extreme hardships and suffering throughout life. Rats in general should guard themselves against hedonism and nostalgia, as it may lead to self-destruction. Gambling, alcohol and drugs tend to be great temptations to Rat natives.
Traditionally, Rats should avoid Horses, but they can usually find their best friends and love interests in Monkeys, Dragons, and Oxen.

"It seems Obama is now maneuvering through the summer camp of his political adolescence and is about to make the same bad choice as I. He can call the placing of a hate monger like Rick Warren on the world dais political healing or inclusiveness or any other nicety he’d like, but I call it pandering to the lowest instinct of the worst kind of politics.
"President Elect Obama, your victory was made possible in no small part to the votes and wallets of the gay and lesbian community along with our supporters. Turning your back on us does not make you more mainstream American. It just makes you a coward." - Harvey Fierstein,

LGBT Americans were hit with yet another piece of bad news Thursday -- no openly gay people will be appointed to President-elect Obama’s cabinet.
Less than 24 hours after the announcement that antigay pastor Rick Warren would be giving the invocation at Obama's inauguration, reports surfaced that Rep. Hilda Solis is the incoming president’s pick as secretary of the Labor Department. The Labor and Interior posts having been the only two positions left for which openly gay qualified candidates were still in the running, LGBT leaders conceded that no out person will be seated at the cabinet table.
“It’s now clear that President Obama’s top appointees will gather in a cabinet room that does not reflect the living rooms, board rooms, or rooms of worship across this country,” said Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund.
Was this just another lie to get us to vote for him, he chose a few openly gay candidates knowing full well they would not be appointed.
Face American and LGBT Community, there will be no Change just more the same, double talk and two face promises.

What else did you except to happen after he got into office. Obama is a Politician. A person who is taught to lie and to kiss the asses of the rich. Everyone should have known that Obama only used the gay community, just like Clinton did 16 years ago. He learn how to speak what we wanted to hear from Clinton.
Now he is showing his true colors as we are piss, but we also should have excepted After all he is a damn politican, who might have took Political science, which is nothng more than a history book on how to lie and what lies works the best.
Now like usual we are bitching and whining about Rick Warren and his damn homophonia,we are helping this bigot to get air and national exposure.
Enough already, Obama isn't going to chance his damn pea size mind.. Just deal that another damn democrat used us to get into office.

(San Francisco, California) Police in Richmond, northeast of San Francisco, are hunting four men accused of the brutal kidnapping and gang rape of a lesbian. Investigators have appealed to the public for help and have posted a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrests and conviction of the men.First off the rape by it self is bad enough, however to call it a hate crime is going to be hard to do since they only way the DA will be able to prove it is if one of the guys confess that is why they rape her. In most cases it about power not if she is a lesbian or not.
Police said that the 28 year old victim was confronted by the four as she got out of her car on December 12. She was beaten, raped and robbed. When the attackers heard someone approaching they forced the women into her car and made her drive to a desolate area where the attack and rape continued.
Police said that during the ordeal the men made a series of homophobic remarks. Investigators said they believe the men realized the victim was a lesbian because of a rainbow sticker on her car.
If the men are caught they will face a hate crime charge on top of charges of rape, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, carjacking and kidnapping.
The men escaped in the victim’s car. She was able to get help from a nearby resident who called police and paramedics.
The woman was treated in hospital and continues to receive psychological counseling.
(New York City) A tattoo parlor employee who claims he was assaulted and sodomized by New York City police officers has filed papers to sue the city and the police department.
Michael Mineo says he was attacked Oct. 15 in a subway station. Officer Richard Kern was charged with aggravated sexual abuse and assault; fellow Officers Alex Cruz and Andrew Morales were charged with hindering prosecution and official misconduct for allegedly covering up the crime.
All three pleaded not guilty.
Mineo filed a notice of claim in the first step to filing a lawsuit against the city. He seeks $200 million in damages for permanent and severe injuries.
The city’s Law Department is reviewing the papers.
First off even he knows he want get that much, he will be lucky to get about 5 million if lucky after his blodd sucking lawyer gets 40% of what ever he is awarded.
As politically incorrect as this is going sound, I feel it needs to be said. The white gay community needs to go somewhere and just STFU already and let Obama get into office.
Well Ms Un-PC Jasmyne, you have said a mouth full this time, so please allow me to the same, Since we now have a Black President, all african-American need to go somewhere and STFU about slavery and being profile while driving black...

"A student-produced newspaper at the Academy for Arts, Science & Technology [in Myrtle Beach] was banned from being distributed last month after students failed to clear an editorial advocating same-sex marriage with the school administration. The principal of the academy near Carolina Forest, Ronnie Burgess, said that he was concerned that the editorial, which was printed on the front page with a picture of two male students holding hands, would be disruptive to the school. 'I had some concerns about the content of the article and how it might impact students here and what the community concerns might be when the article was distributed,' Burgess said. 'At the academy we encourage diversity, we don't look to silence student voices, we hope to facilitate their expression.'" [Myrtle Beach Sun News]Who would have guess that holding hands would so be so disruptive? I thought that a known serial rapist on campus would be more disruptive, or finding out that a unknown student planning the Next VA Tech, would be a disruptive. Hell, having President Bush to show up on Campus would do the same damn thing. But Holding hands, Kissing ,please give me a damn break. Can't these Asshole Administrators come up with something better.
In "Prayers for Bobby," Mary Griffith is a devout Christian who raises her children with the conservative teachings of the Presbyterian Church. However, when her son Bobby confides to his older brother he may be gay, life changes for the entire family after Mary learns about his secret. While Bobby's father and siblings slowly come to terms with his homosexuality, Mary believes God can cure him of what she considers his 'sin' and persuades Bobby to pray harder and seek solace in church activities in hopes of changing him. Desperate for his mother's approval, Bobby does what is asked of him, but through it all, the church's apparent disapproval of homosexuality causes him to grow increasingly withdrawn and depressed. Guilty over the pain he is causing Mary, Bobby moves away, yet hopes that some day his mother will accept him. His subsequent depression and self-loathing intensifies as he blames himself for not being the 'perfect' son and is driven to suicide. Faced with their tragedy, Mary begins to question her faith when she receives no answers from her pastor concerning her devastating loss. Through her long and emotional journey, Mary slowly reaches out to the gay community and discovers unexpected support from a very unlikely source. The film is based on the 1995 Leroy Aarons book of the same name. Written by Louie NeiraI look forward to watching this show, I have to wonder if mommy is portray in the right right light, as a Christan bigot who drove her son to kill himself, then only after his death does she get a damn heart.

But Obama told reporters in Chicago that America needs to "come together," even when there's disagreement on social issues. "That dialogue is part of what my campaign is all about," he said.
Obama also said he's known to be a "fierce advocate for equality" for gays and lesbians, and will remain so.
Hope is for not getting caught for backstabbing those who got him elected. Not in office yet and the backpedaling has started.
Said Obama, via TPM:Well not even in office yet and he is turning us. Then again he isn't the first to use us to get his sorry ass in office, clinton did, and now we help him to get in office.. I'm really to bet that in the next four years nothing will change for us. Well, not by him anyway.
"Well, let me start by talking about my own views. I think it is no secret that I am a fierce advocate for equality for gay and lesbian Americans. It is something I have been consistent on and something I intend to continue to be consistent on during my presidency...What I've also said is that it is important for America to come together even though we may have disagreements on certain social issues...And I would note that a couple of years ago I was invited to Rick Warren's church to speak, despite his awareness that I held views entirely contrary to his when it came to gay and lesbian rights, when it came to issues like abortion.. ..Nevertheless, I had an opportunity to speak, and that dialogue, I think, is a part of what my campaign's been all about, that we're never going to agree on every single issue. What we have to do is create an atmosphere where we can disagree without being disagreeable, and then focus on those things that we hold in common as Americans. So Rick Warren has been invited to speak, Dr. Joseph Lowery -- who has deeply contrasting views to Rick Warren about a whole host of issues -- is also speaking."
Like the saying, the only difference between a Republican and a Democrat is that the Republican tell you to your face that he hates you, the Democrat does it behind your back..
I also really to bet that many of what he said he will do, he won't.. I guess it time to pay back all those favors that he owes to people on the hill....

Rick Warren:Oh I do. I just... For five thousand years, marriage has been defined by every single culture and every single religion - this is not a Christian issue. Buddhists, Muslims, the Jews, historically marriage is a man and a woman. And so I'm opposed to that. And the reason I supported Prop 8 really, was a free speech issue. Because if it had.... First, the court overid the will of the people. But second, is, there were all kinds of threats that if you... that did not pass, then any pastor could be considered doing hate speech if he shared his views that he didn't think homosexuality was the most natural way for relationships. And that would be hate speech. To me, we should have freedom of speech. And you should be able to have freedom of speech to make your position, and I should be able to have freedom of speech to make my position. And can we do this in a civil way?so now its either with us or against us, So if you support prop8 you are a bigot and you are promoting hate speech..
That is why one should never talk about politics at all

The state Human Rights Commission ruled this week that an Albuquerque wedding photographer discriminated against her would-be client by refusing to shoot a same-sex commitment ceremony.
Vanessa Willock filed a civil complaint with the labor department's Human Rights Bureau in 2006, saying Elaine Huguenin, co-owner of Albuquerque's Elane Photography, told her in an e-mail that she only photographed "traditional" marriages and would not photograph same-sex ceremonies.
In an order issued Wednesday, a panel of commissioners ruled that Huguenin discriminated against Willock based on sexual orientation and ordered Elane Photography to pay Willock's attorney's fees of $6,637.93.
An attorney for Huguenin promised to appeal in state District Court, contending the commission violated Huguenin's constitutional rights to practice her religion.
Jordan Lorence, senior counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, said Huguenin declined the job because her and her husband's religious beliefs were in conflict with the ceremony's "message."
Willock, in an e-mailed statement issued through her attorney, said she was pleased with the ruling.
"I feel that it is an important decision towards defining the responsibilities of business when they offer their services to the public in this state," she said.
Lorence said the refusal "stemmed from the couple's evangelical Christian and ideological beliefs, and they didn't want to further a ceremony that defines marriage in a different way, just as Elane Photography would not want to photograph a polygamist wedding," he said. "This couple is free to have any ceremony they want, but they don't have the right to force unwilling people to participate in it."
Lorence represents a conservative religious organization that frequently enters court cases involving same-sex marriage, abortion and school prayer.
Until recently, Willock was an equal employment opportunity specialist with the University of New Mexico's Office of Equal Opportunity.
After considering the evidence, including e-mails, the Human Rights Bureau issued a determination of probable cause in June 2007, allowing the case to go before a panel of three of the state's 11 Human Rights Commissioners, all of whom are appointed by Gov. Bill Richardson.
State law prohibits discrimination based on sex, race, religion and sexual orientation in the areas of employment, housing, credit or public accommodation.
State law does not, however, recognize a marriage between two members of the same sex.
Francie Cordova, the bureau's labor relations director, said the case fell under public accommodation.
Although employment complaints are more common, she said, several public accommodation complaints are filed annually, typically when people feel they have been illegally denied service by a business.
This case was unique, she said, because Willock only sought a discrimination ruling and attorneys' fees.
"Normally, the complainant also asks for damages," she said.
Typically, a discrimination investigation takes about six months, Cordova said, but this case was delayed while a federal court considered a request from the defendant that it be removed from the commission's hands.
The court remanded the case to the commission early this year, she said, and hearings began in January.
The case drew considerable attention from right-leaning blogs and publications, like the Washington Times and the National Catholic Register.
Some Internet commentators cited the case as erosion of their religious freedom, while others suggested Huguenin could have handled the situation better to avoid running afoul of anti-discrimination laws.
"Had the photographer ... simply said 'I don't think I would be a good fit for your ceremony,' or even said she had other obligations, that would have been the end of it," New Mexico blogger SJ Reidhead wrote on her blog, thepinkflamingo.blogharbor.com, which she describes as Republican, Christian, pro-immigration and pro-Bush.
Julie Sakura, an attorney for Santa Fe-based law firm Lopez & Sakura who represented Willock, said the case should not be considered precedent-setting.
"This is an appropriate application of existing New Mexico law to the facts of this case," she said.
As an amateur photographer myself, I must said this law-suit was just plain stupid, this damn lesbian could have took her damn ceremony to another photographer. I think she want to make a damn statement.
However, it does bring up an interesting point. What if, a group from the KKK asked her to photograph one of their so-social events and refused, would this same commission find in their favor.
What if I was being interviewed to see if I would be willing to photograph a highly sexual event and I said no, and told them I don't do such work, would that give them the right to sue me. However if I signed a contract without reading what it was that I would be photographing then withdrew, then yes they would be in their rights to sue me for breach of contract.
In this class, this very in your face dyke didn't have a contract, she was searching for a photographer, once she was inform by this Christian photographer that she wouldn't be able to be their photographer, she stewed for a while and got mad because a Christian told her NO, she in turn file this stupid ass lawsuit to make a point. The point was you don't mess with us Dykes, "we will fuck your life up". Another dyke screwing things for everyone, this reminds me of the cartoons series "Dykes to watch out for". Since this one has help to give us a bad name (photographer), I'm just glad it wasn't me, I just might have told her NO as well.

how nice every time they over spent and rise their pay, and when they need to cut items out of the budget, why do they always goes to education first. Hell at this rate why have schools at all. It seen every year they cut more and more from the school budget.
The country has a reading literacy rate at 98% of the population over age 15, while ranking below average in science and mathematics understanding compared to other developed countries. In 2008, there was a 77% graduation rate from high school, below most developed countries.
The U.S. Department of Education has no formal plans to compete against China on similar initiatives at this time.
I can only guess that education isn't high on the list..

Well I'm sure the these two new delegates aren't cookie cutters too,
Let's agree with the opponents today, just for the moment, and say that homosexuality is a choice. Well, one may also consider religion a choice. In the last millennium, Jews were told: 'Being Jewish is a choice. Become a Christian and we won't kill you. Go kneel -- go kiss the cross,' but they would not. Why? Because the way we choose to love the divine is part of our very essence, part of who we are. Just as who we choose to love is part of our very essence, our humanness. Today, we look back in horror at that time, at that treatment of people because of their religion. In this millennium, we are learning to look back in horror at racism and discrimination based on gender. And even though we will lose this bill today, I believe in my heart that in the next millennium we will look back in horror at this smug failure to do what is right on behalf of all people.--Sheila Kuehl

[Cruise...] has lost his BlackBerry, National Post columnist Shinan Govani reports. After Cruise did a full-hour interview with "Entertainment Tonight Canada," his people called the studio asking if anyone had found the gadget. "A search was done, but, nada," Govani said. "So, basically, someone in Toronto has Top Gun's crackberry."
What can I say, I hope who ever have found this berry, post everything to the web. Who knows maybe there will be some very incriminating photos. That would be nice wouldn't it. What about those who's who phones in Hollywood,and those in the church. many be a few number to some personal body attendants??
I just hope the person or persons who may have this berry doesn't blackmail Tom, over what they might find on this berry... Could this berry hold the long asked question about personal life and his church life..
Question? Do scientologists have alter boys?????????????
How nice, if you decided to go to this event and want to mingle with the VIPs you must spend more, that right for addition one hundred dollars you can get a gift bag which is most case are always donated, then you get to mingle with the selected celebrity at the after party. However if you really want to be treated like a pampered snob just buy the two thousand dollar ticket.. Then I guess you much even be able to shake hands with these so-called celebrities….

Glaad is calling us to action against the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, over their ad in the New York Times. They are claim this type of Ad/opinion piece shouldn't be in the New York Times Paper. No matter what Glaad thinks or I this Group has the right to post this opinion if they wish. Yes, if they want to make their bigotry known to the world so be it.
Many could same about many of our community ads, and opinions. Which by way almost always contain half naked men and women, which are suggestive in a sexual nature? Who is really to judge what is right and what is wrong, is any body's guess.
Personally Glaad has stuck their noses in where is doesn't belong so many times it's not funny.
Now for the "what if"?
What if they applied this standard to us, when we place ads and opinion in national newspapers and local ones as well.

In the December 5, 2008 edition of The New York Times, The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty published a full page advertisement that makes inaccurate and unsubstantiated claims about supposed "violence and intimidation" against religious groups by "mobs" since the passage of Proposition 8. You can see the ad here: http://www.nomobveto.org
When GLAAD learned about the ad earlier this week, we contacted The New York Times, and after repeated back and forth, they said that while they recognized our strong concerns about publishing misleading assertions, "we do not require opinion advertisers to document them unless we believe they are potentially libelous or otherwise legally actionable."
"The factual inaccuracies made by the Becket Fund in this grossly misleading ad have no place in The New York Times or any credible media outlet," said Neil G. Giuliano, President of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). "Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and allies across the country have worked to make our voices heard in the face of laws that strip away vital protections for members of our community. The peaceful marches and rallies that have occurred since the passage of Prop 8 have given us an opportunity to become more visible and make our voices heard, and it is unacceptable for media platforms, particularly ones as respected as The New York Times, to provide space for groups to make misleading and false attacks that would only seek to silence us."
It is unacceptable to publish these kinds of dishonest claims. The New York Times needs to hear from you. Contact them TODAY and demand that they discontinue allowing inaccurate claims in their advertising: firstname.lastname@example.org.
