Charlotte pride vs. Black Pride

I was fortunate enough to perform at Pride Charlotte 2008 and events for Charlotte NC Black Gay Pride 2008, giving me the opportunity to see for myself what each celebration had to offer. Pride Charlotte welcomes a diverse crowd, however, fails to embrace the forms of creative expression developed by and typically found in the black/Latino community (ball culture, for example). [Ed. I just don’t know about that at all.I personally feel black community simply don’t want to share the event with us. I can tell you if we really did a pride event with no blacks at you know what we would be call..

The so-called ball culture is nothing more then an over the top drag gang shows. Yes this type of show doesn’t really have a place in a family oriented pride, then again neither have a float with half naked men dancing in briefs or g-strings. so lets call it a draw on that issue.

Cultural diff’s my ass, they really don’t what to share a pride with us period, they want something completely theirs. Like have said in the past, we want marriage equality, but we don’t even have equality in our communities.

SNT: Young black gay men bear brunt of HIV

Seven years later, instead of the number of annual infections dropping to 20,000, the CDC now estimates that more than 56,000 Americans contract HIV each year, with young black gay men hardest hit by the domestic epidemic.

“We need to do so much more than we’re doing right now, we need to get AIDS back on the radar,” CDC Director Julie Gerberding said at a Sept. 16 hearing hosted by the U.S. House of Representatives’ oversight and government reform committee. “We need to make it clear it’s not a problem over there, it’s a problem at home.”

How and why you might ask. Its simple most of these young black bucks are in long term relationships with women or date women to uphold their image in the hood and for the fellow homies. In public their are on the down low (dl), so they don't want to use condoms, with either partner, if they use rubber with the girlfriend, the girl will accused them of sleeping around. If they use them with their male partner they are saying i'mnot safe to be with. 

These hot black bucks just need to come the hell out of the closet and play safe. Coming out isn't the end of the world, hell just come out as bisexual, that way you can play safe on both side of the fence.

SNT: DL In Hip Hop

On May 13th the release of author and former MTV executive Terrance Dean's memoir "Hiding In Hip Hop:On The Down Low in the Entertainment Industry from Music to Hollywood", is sure to cause a firestorm of controversy and spark a discussion about hip-hop artists who have built careers on their hyper-masculine and thuggish image while secretly leading double lives.

Ironically, in an industry much like professional sports, hip-hop is homophobic yet homo-erotic at the same time. It is no secret that gays exist in every occupation in society and hip-hop is no exception.

So why hasn't a major hip-hop artist come out? There's obvious reasons that the majority of people whether gay or straight would understand, one being we live in an extremely homophobic society, although progress is being made.



Yet with all these gay pride march and rallies there are so many on the DL, simply because they don't want the title gay or Homo attach to them. Then they wonder why most black men have relationship problems both with women and men.

SNT: Gay Pride Days

Black Gay Pride comes to the city in full force this weekend with dozens of celebrities to wow the estimated 75,000 people expected to pack the clubs for the annual fest, considered the largest event of its kind in the world.

Ok why must there be two sets of Gay Pride. Why must there be a black gay pride in every state that has a regular gay pride day. Why? I see even today our community is still divided over race. One would think that the Gay community would want unity not separation. This is why our community is facing all this discrimination, it would seem that the African-American still want separation to exist.

Then they are the first group to bitch and whine about being discriminate against. So Guys you can't have it both ways. It would seem that for every event we have there is a separate event solely for Blacks.
Take the MS World, USA, Universe beauty pageants, for each of these there is an all Black pageant. African-American want unity and separation at the same time. Why?
Then there is the all separate HIV/AIDS Groups. They feel the need to have their very own, Why?
