Doug DeVos, Amway President

In 2009 The Douglas and Maria DeVos Foundation, which was founded and is funded by the President of Amway, Douglas DeVos, donated $500,000 to the National Organization for Marriage.
The donation led to Fred Karger, president of the LGBT advocacy group, Rights Equal Rights foundation, calling for a boycott of Amway and its affiliates, including the Orlando Magic basketball team, which is owned by DeVos's father and Amway co-founder Richard DeVos.

The Knights Of Columbus

According to RightsEqualRights.com, The Knights of Columbus donated $1,425,000 in 2008 to support Proposition 8.
Founded in 1882, The Knights was "formed to render financial aid to members and their families... social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works."
With more than 1.8 million members throughout the world, RightsEqualRights.com notes that the organization has spent millions of dollars "...to fund constitutional amendments to ban same-sex marriage across the United States."

Jim Walton

Jim Walton is the youngest son of Sam Walton and an heir to the WalMart fortune. He also serves as CEO of Arvest Bank, which operates in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas.
In 2008 Jim Walton donated $75,000 to Family Council Action Committee's campaign to keep gay couples from adopting in Arkansas.

The Church Of Latter Day Saints

According to an interview with the New York Times, a strategist for Protect Marriage, an anti-gay organization working to keep same-sex marriage illegal, claimed that nearly one-half of the $40 million raised to support Proposition 8 was donated by Mormons.
Another Protect Marriage member "estimated that Mormons made up 80 percent to 90 percent of the early volunteers who walked door-to-door [to gain Prop 8 support] in election precincts."

Thomas S. Monaghan, Domino's Founder

The famously pro-life and anti-gay rights Domino's Pizza founder financed a ballot initiative in 2001 aimed at removing sexual orientation from a Michigan city's nondiscrimination ordinance.
Still, the company has managed to stay out of the public fray. "We're not a religious company. We're not a political company. We're a pizza company," a Domino's spokesman told USA Today earlier this month.

Terry Caster, CEO Of A-1 Self Storage

A-1 Self Storage CEO Terry Caster and his family donated $693,000 to support Proposition 8, the 2008 California ballot initiative banning gay marriage, according to San Diego City Beat.

Target

Target faced a backlash when it was revealed the company had made a controversial political donation of $150,000 to MN Forward, a group supporting Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, a vocal gay marriage opponent. Quickly, anti-Target groups were created on Facebook, and Lady Gaga dropped an exclusive album deal with the retailer in a show of support.
Even so, Target officials staunchly defended their company. As NewsOK reports, the company has continued to be a major sponsor for the Pride festivities in Minneapolis, and also scores high on the Human Rights Campaign's corporate equality index, which rates businesses on workplace policies for LGBT employees.
"Target is not anti-gay," Michael Francis, Target's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, told The Los Angeles Times. "It's important to set the record straight and provide some context."

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ashton, who made his fortune as one of the founders of the WordPerfect Corporation, donated $1,000,000 to support Proposition 8.

Gay Orgs Don't Want Federal Lawsuit , (lawsuit isn't theirs and no way to make money)

Let talk about one reason that they aren't talking about,, this suit wasn't bought by them they didn't have they sticky hands in on it.. If they are not apart of the Lawsuit they can't ask us for money that is the main reason.. Last November Prop8 bought in Millions of dollars for these groups that is what they were hoping for this time again as well..

See they didn't help with it.. they now have no rights to used this lawsuit as a money making machine for them...That is why they are against a Lawsuit..

These groups wants another prop8 measure to fleece the gay community of millions and millions of dollars for their coffers.

First, the court overid the will of the people. But second, is, there were all kinds of threats that if you... that did not pass, then any pastor could be considered doing hate speech if he shared his views that he didn't think homosexuality was the most natural way for relationships. And that would be hate speech. To me, we should have freedom of speech. And you should be able to have freedom of speech to make your position, and I should be able to have freedom of speech to make my position. And can we do this in a civil way?

Why Prop. 8 Lost

El Coyote manager steps down over Prop 8

Frontiers magazine learned Saturday Marjorie Christoffersen is stepping down as a manager at the Los Angeles restaurant El Coyote. Bill Schoeppner, a fellow manager at El Coyote who has been with the restaurant for 26 years, told Frontiers Christoffersen was also resigning as a member of El Coyote's board of directors.

"She no longer works here," Schoeppner said on Saturday. "She just told me tonight."

Christoffersen created a firestorm of controversy for the 77-year-old L.A. institution after local blogs broke the news she had donated $100 to the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign. Long a popular destination for the LGBT community for its cheap Mexican food and generous Margaritas, El Coyote found itself the target of boycotts and demonstrations after Christoffersen's donation went public. In a press conference hosted by the restaurant days after the news of the donation broke, Christoffersen tried to explain her donation did not have to do with animus for gay and lesbian people, but was instead tied to her Mormon faith. Christoffersen did not apologize for the donation and did not indicate she would support any No on 8 organization.

This crap is getting old, really fast, making people lose their jobs is just wrong. Lets play a game..

If you work for a company that is in the process of trying to get a major contact with another company which would ensure that company a would make billions, but company-b tells company-a, that they would not give the contract to them if they support gays rights, would company A still sign on the line.. ??????????, You beat your ass they would. its all the money$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Yes this point would not be in the contact at all. Still I bet Company A would stop supporting gay rights if it was doing so already, and if they were thinking about it, they wouldn't now, why you ask? It because of this $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The Sundance Film Festival announced its line-up for 2009. They also discussed how the festival plans to deal with boycott threats and objections to screenings in Cinemark theaters owned by Alan Stock, who contributed $9,999 to the 'Yes on 8' campaign:
"Mr. Cooper [festival’s director of programming] and [festival director] Mr. Gilmore said festival officials were stepping carefully around demands that they cooperate with a boycott of businesses associated with supporters of California’s Proposition 8, banning gay marriage. The festival, for instance, will make certain that no film is screened only in the Holiday Village theater in Park City, operated by Cinemark, a chain whose chief executive, Alan Stock, donated to Proposition 8’s backers in the November election. The idea is to give anyone who has qualms about Cinemark the opportunity to see a movie somewhere else. But, given the dearth of theaters, programmers don’t intend to abandon the Holiday Village. 'We don’t have an alternative,' Mr. Gilmore said. 'If we had another theater we could walk down the street to, we might be thinking about that.'"
So, yes they're screening in Cinemark, and no, they're not choosing to show any solidarity with the millions of Californians who had their civil rights taken from them except offering them another choice. Separate but equal.

Sundance need to get a backbone and tell those who want them to boycott the Cinemark to get a damn life. this Boycott is really getting out of hand since the LGBT is pick and choosing which companies, people and churches they want to boycott and protest.

I wonder what our java drinking community would have done it a CEO of Starbucks had given money to Yes on Eight, better yet what if Absolute executives also gave money to yes on eight, what would our bars do, boycott all Absolute drink line.

Boycotting and Protest testing won't undo the vote this year, Its in the hands of the courts. We will just have to wait to see what the courts will do.

Campaign of Violence

You knew this was coming -- it was only a matter of time before the emotion and outrage in the LGBT community after Prop 8 would be turned into a rampaging mob of heathen homosexuals persecuting Christians. The Blend has received word that the The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty is pulling together a full page ad to run in the NY Times within the next few days, charging the LGBT community's response to Prop 8 is a "Campaign of Violence."

Its all because we didn't bow down gracefully and go back to our humble homes and cry in our beds, Instead we took the offensive and we took to the streets. This time we said we have had enough. The so-called christian right thought we would never actually go off them, we caught them off guard and now they have put their little heads together and came up with a new plan of attack.

What we should be is to damn that the original bibles (which if I'm correct, there is only four left, this bible was given a unique name, which at this time I can't remember) to be transcribe again, just to see what is what. This re-transcribing should done by a bipartisan group of scholars

L.A. Film Fest Director Raddon Resigns Over Prop 8 Donation

Los Angeles Film Festival director Richard Raddon, a "devout" Mormon, has resigned from his position following revelations that he donated $1,500 to the campaign to write discrimination into California's constitution, Variety reports:

"After bloggers published his name, culled from public records of donors, Raddon tendered his first resignation on Nov. 13 to Film Independent's board of directors. It was not accepted, and Film Independent released a statement saying, 'Our organization does not police the personal, religious or political choices of any employee, member or filmmaker.' Yet Internet message boards and other published reports kept the issue at the center of a growing protest movement that has targeted 'Yes on 8' donors including the Mormon Church and Cinemark Theaters, whose CEO was a contributor. On Monday, Raddon submitted a second resignation. Those close to the org described Monday's conference call with the board of directors as emotional. While Raddon's contribution had caused some internal angst, he was well liked within the org. On Tuesday, Film Independent issued a statement saying, 'With great reluctance, Film Independent has accepted Richard Raddon's resignation. Rich's service to the independent film community and to Film Independent has been nothing less than extraordinary. He has always shown complete commitment to our core principles of equality and diversity during his long tenure.'"
A replacement for this bigot has not been named.

When will this shit end. I mean really, how many companies are we going ot force to fired or layoff those in those companies that gave money to yes on 8, the way we are acting I HOPE WE NEVER GET THE RIGHT OT MARRY IN CA, I HOPE THAT THE CA SUPREME COURT AGREES AND DECLARE THE PROP LEGAL.

While we are the damn subject, Why is it movies where Actors play gay gets awards, but movies where were actors are gay  in real life doesn't get shit. I don't see us beating the gates of Hollywood demanding our fair share. Since Hollywood have been covering up all those past gay actors for years. 

I would like to know just who in Hollywood support no on 8, but guess what that list can't be found. So what is No on 8 hiding. Make that list public, I want to see just who in Hollywood who claim to support us gave..

Cinemark, boycott of Milk and Twilight...

No Milk for Cinemark, No Twilight for Gays

Cinemark theatre chain CEO Alan Stock shelled out $9,999 to pass Prop. 8 in California, but will his theater chain profit from ticket sales for the forthcoming release of Milk. Not if a group of people on the Web have anything to say about it.

NoMilkforCinemark.com is dedicated to convincing ticket buyers to see Milk at a competitor’s theater. The idea is that if the gay community agrees to buy tickets to see the movie somewhere else, Cinemark will lose revenue from what promises to be one of the most profitable pictures of the holiday season.

California’s Briggs initiative, which would have resulted in the firing of gay and lesbian teachers throughout the state in 1978, plays a prominent role in the film.

But LGBT moviegoers are faced with another tough decision this holiday season. Twilight, based on the best-selling novel by Stephanie Meyer, opened in theaters this weekend. And if Meyer is to be taken at her word, 10% of all monies she makes off the movie will go to the Mormon Church.

Meyer has made no public statement regarding her feelings on California's Prop. 8. (The Advocate)

Mommy dearest, The Broken Hearts Club, Stonewall, Go Fish, Brokeback Mountian. What if anyone who own any rights to the following gave moeny to Yes on 8 would we boycott and protest them.. This is really getting out of hand. We are sinking more and more to their levels..

Ok what about this one, David Nimmons who wrote the book The Soul beneath the Skin holds that we are a superior society,we are the social and moral leaders of humanity, , we are non-violent and fun loving. What if he gave money to yes on 8, What would we do then.

I was wrong she gave ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS. That is correct 100 dollars. And because she did about 60 gay 'activists' went to her restaurant and strong armed her in a scene reminiscent to Nazi Germany. They went down a list of people who gave as little as 100 dollars to boycott,  harrass and attack them. They went there to 'confront' her for giving a measley hundred bucks based on her personal faith that she has had since childhood. They argued with her and it was reported by local news reporters was a "heated" confrontation.
So is this the America we want? Where if a private citizen wants to participate in the governmental process that they be harrassed and acosted. Their freedom of speech chilled by thugs.
In a blog Diane West calls this "the Death of the Grown Up". What a perfect title. Gay activists are acting like spoiled brats who attack other citizens for not getting their way. This traumitized the elderly owner of the Mexican restaurant:

SNT: as Devil Advocate on Subway and Prop8

Subway, the popular sandwich chain, responded to demands by blogger Mike Rogers that they redress a Yes on 8 contribution one of their franchisee's made today.Rogers sent a letter to the company making three demands: That it repudiate the gift, that it add sexual orientation and gender identity to the corporation's non-discrimination policy and that it give an equal gift to the opposing side.

This is just wrong, it was a private donation nothing more than that. This is really getting old fast. I could understand if it was the main Company who did, but a franchisee's owner has the right to do, The only Thing Mr Jack Ass Rogers manage to do is to get the The Doctor's Group to rewrite it polices and to force their (oops our political views) on all Subways Franchisee owners.

I can say that not all owner are anti-gay. I once work for subway as Asst manager and the owner knew I was gay and the owner was a Mormon, and yes this was before legal protection in the work place for gays. I work there for a year before I move to back home for a three years.

So get Over it and move on, The CA Supreme Court has agree to heard the case, Lets hope they will over turn Prop 8.

We’re dealing with a new movement. New rules. New pain and hurt. New emotion. It’s all raw and it hasn’t been formed into any sort of movable movement — at least not yet. Almost 40 years since Stonewall, the LGBT community is experiencing a re-birth. What will come of it is yet to be known.

is this true? Are we dealing with a new type of Movement? If this is a new type then I would also have to ask what rules are we playing by now.? Just who is making these rules for us to follow?

I do agree that we are not acting like we have in past protests. Yes we yell and shout but we hardly every got physical with the counters. But now we are, we are getting right in thier faces, recently a mob run out a group of Religious Righters in the Castro, and then in Palm Spring a Cross was knock out of the hands of a older lady.  So what is next of our list?
