ACT UP once again to Protest HRC..

On Sat Jan 31, join ACT UP to protest HRC (Human Rights Campaign) at their annual gala honoring Fortune 500 companies. While HRC dines with the 1%, a 35+ year HIV epidemic rages on in our LGBT community, still cutting many LGBT lives short.

Health officials warn about the recent sharp increase in HIV infections among young gay men and transgender women, especially among communities of color. We need our national LGBT orgs like HRC to shine a spotlight on HIV and AIDS until the epidemic is over for all populations, especially our most at-risk LGBT people.

HRC has created an LGBT equality index to score the Fortune 500 companies, but there’s no mention of HIV and the thousands of LGBT people with HIV in the workplace. We demand that HRC include several criteria to evaluate companies on their treatment of employees living with HIV, as well as their contributions to organizations and causes relate to reducing the incidence of HIV among LGBT Americans, particularly among the young. For over 30 years, too many have been fired, harassed, outed and discriminated against at work for having HIV.

Also at this gala, many of the corporations that HRC will honor actively work against the interests of middle-class and poor Americans, including people with HIV. ACT UP denounces this frequent practice of ‘”pinkwashing” whereby corporations with policies and practices that undermine the people’s well-being are given positive publicity in exchange for maintaining LGBT-friendly (or just equal) workplaces. This is short-sighted and divisive. We demand that HRC develop other criteria that takes into account the impact of companies’ policies on every American, not just LGBT Americans.

First off I have been block (till I give an online apology to few GayIncers), which will never happen, from commenting on Qnotes Website and on Facebook, however this isn’t a big lost.

Recently Matt the editor of Qnotes wrote about a Rally and protest in Charlotte, NC. Who was the Ralliers and who were the Protesters?? It would seen that two local hate groups teamed up for a Rally, the Neo Nazis and the KKK. The Protesters were and is everyone who hate these two groups. The best part of the Protest were the clowns with their WHITE FLOUR rally cry, instead of WHITE POWER.

I’m glad that he cover the hate group event, but he basically bitch about that the local LGBT community leaders didn’t know about it or showed up to join in the protest.. of these two groups..

SPLC have listed a bunch of Groups as Hate groups to kiss GayInc’s ass. Now why doesn’t SPLC take the list that they used to see who is a hate group and start judging some of our LGBT Groups.. to see how many fit their definition of a hate group.

I’m sure Matt would agree that I border on the line as a person of hate. Simply because I don’t follow GayINC playbook. Nor will I ever.

I see that we are forcing issues on folks, just like many of these hate groups do. Like the Lesbians who are forcing photographers, and land owner to host and photograph their wedding, Gay couple forcing Private BnB’s to give them a room for the weekend, Bakery to baker their special treats.. I firmly believes these folks sought out these Bakers, photographer, inn owners and caters who they knew that wouldn't take their business.

All so they could force these issues on them.. Making them the bullies now.

I have seen this type of action before and also read about it in the history books..

Our current actions of getting equality is becoming like what the Christians did to so many back in the day. Join us and do as we say or we will destroy you.. lucky so far GayINC has starting killing folks yet.. Well, that we know of..

GayINC via their many groups are slowing destroy our community.. We have Glaad who claim to be watching the media groups, while making under the table deal to look the other way on the actions of a few groups. Then HRC, who claims to be working so hard for us, why they are picking and choosing who to protect in our community.. and which group to throw under the bus to get some protection for the larger group..

But lets not forget my local Equality group here in NC,, i.e. Equality NC, who steal other people ideals and then tries to pass them off as theirs. Who did a postcard campaign to help prevent a vote on a constitutional amendment, but deliver the cards on the morning of the vote, which the senators at the NCGA didn’t get to see those cards from their constituents  at all. which meant it was a complete total waste of time and money.

According to RightsEqualRights.com, The Knights of Columbus donated $1,425,000 in 2008 to support Proposition 8.
Founded in 1882, The Knights was "formed to render financial aid to members and their families... social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works."
With more than 1.8 million members throughout the world, RightsEqualRights.com notes that the organization has spent millions of dollars "...to fund constitutional amendments to ban same-sex marriage across the United States."

Jim Walton

Jim Walton is the youngest son of Sam Walton and an heir to the WalMart fortune. He also serves as CEO of Arvest Bank, which operates in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Kansas.
In 2008 Jim Walton donated $75,000 to Family Council Action Committee's campaign to keep gay couples from adopting in Arkansas.

The famously pro-life and anti-gay rights Domino's Pizza founder financed a ballot initiative in 2001 aimed at removing sexual orientation from a Michigan city's nondiscrimination ordinance.

A-1 Self Storage CEO Terry Caster and his family donated $693,000 to support Proposition 8, the 2008 California ballot initiative banning gay marriage, according to San Diego City Beat.

Target faced a backlash when it was revealed the company had made a controversial political donation of $150,000 to MN Forward, a group supporting Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, a vocal gay marriage opponent. Quickly, anti-Target groups were created on Facebook, and Lady Gaga dropped an exclusive album deal with the retailer in a show of support.
Even so, Target officials staunchly defended their company. As NewsOK reports, the company has continued to be a major sponsor for the Pride festivities in Minneapolis, and also scores high on the Human Rights Campaign's corporate equality index, which rates businesses on workplace policies for LGBT employees.
"Target is not anti-gay," Michael Francis, Target's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, told The Los Angeles Times. "It's important to set the record straight and provide some context."

Alan Ashton, Co-Founder Of WordPerfect

A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ashton, who made his fortune as one of the founders of the WordPerfect Corporation, donated $1,000,000 to support Proposition 8.

WBC in NC today

Today I had five things plans. More or less five events I wanted to photograph, and the Protest that the WBC was to do in NC today was one of them.. However, they were no shows..

I call the local PD and ask if the WBC had received a permit to protest. The PD officer told no permit was issued and they knew nothing about this protest.. Meaning either they (WBC) was going to protest without a permit and with protection..

Since I could get confirmation I chose to go to another event.

Where was the LGBT Community, AWOL as usual

Well there was a rally in Raleigh tonight a joint rally of The Dream Act and DADT, however the LGBT community was absent all together, not one member of Raleigh/Durham area showed to add their support.

I can only guess once again the fucking sheep of the community didn't attend because they didn't get the go ahead from the so-called community leaders... We know who they are.

I guess if the self out whining Dan Choi was there, everyone would have been there.
Once again the community who wants equality for all couldn’t show up to lean support for another group who have the almost the same goal.

This would have been a great time to connect with the Hispanic community; this was an epic failure from our community

Raleigh, NC – Today, DREAM Activists and Raleigh area advocates supporting the repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law announced plans for a local protest on Thursday, November 11, 2010. The Raleigh rally – just one of dozens of similar repeal events happening across the country during the week of Veteran’s Day – will focus on honoring the lives and service of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) veterans by building support and pressure on the United States Senate to immediately pass “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal legislation.

The last opportunity for passing repeal legislation this year will be during the upcoming “lame duck” session of Congress. The “lame-duck” session of Congress is scheduled to begin Monday November 15, and will adjourn when Congressional leadership have the votes to the end the session. The more I read the more I believe that the Cameron Village was a setup

Caitlin Breedlove, the woman who was removed from a shopping mall in Raleigh, N.C., after a security guard spotted her sharing a hug and a kiss with her girlfriend, tells Joy Behar it’s like a lot of “incidents happening to people of color, immigrants, and gay couples.”
“We asked, ‘Would it have been the same if we were a man and a woman?’” Breedlove tells Behar. “And she said no.”

I was shock when I first learn of this event/action. Since it was happening in Raleigh, where there is a large LGBT Community. It was noted that Property Managers of Cameron village took 24hr to respond. Which I find was reasonable and the action they took was also appropriate. They resolve the matter and that should have been the end of it. Yes having a protest was a great ideal, and going thru with said protest only if the Property Management group did nothing.

The head of York Properties met with Breedlove and apologized. A York spokesperson said that the officer involved was immediately suspended. The supervising officer and all security officers will receive additional sensitivity training. 

The protest did happen and was a success

However since the protest Ms Breedlove and basically become a media whore on this issue. It all start the moment of the event.. Just who call all the media outlets..

I now feel that this as completely set up by both of them.. Simply to get her face in the papers and on tv to promote her group... This was the great new gay caper of the year.

FTM, NOM and Qnotes

This August the 10th NOM is coming to town. it was reported and texted and discuss at lengths if there should be a counter protest or not, however four groups have step up to the plate, after i cancel my. for reason that need not to be fully discuss at this time, however its has something to with the A'List gays and lesbians in North Carolina.

Was told that Equality NC and FTM was joining forces, yet the only thing about this was an email from Ms Mann, where they are planning a truth squad to talk to the press... Since they want lower  level gay persons speaking to the media...  The Raleigh Stop isn't even listed on either site.

However they are not alone on this matter.

Our only local LGBT Newspapers whom only report items west of Interstate 95, doesn't even have this protest listed under events, yes they did a story, but didn't seem fit to add it to the event listings.

However Ms Pam over at Pam's Houseblend did get the word out.

So a local national blogger can let her readers in North Carolina know about this, yet our local LGBT paper only did a story, and ENC and FTM didn't even have anything about NOM stopping in Raleigh at all on their sites, Why? I think a few of our leaders and community speakers have drop the ball on this one.

More than two thousand photographersdescended upon London’s Trafalgar Square this weekend to protest section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000, which was ruled unlawful by the European Court of Human Rights earlier this month.

As was predicted, UK police were on their best behavior during the protest as participants were able to photograph the square and themselves without incident. However, despite photographers having just one day free from harassment and the European Court of Human Rights’ ruling, Chief Constable Craig Mackey of the Association of Chief Police Officers said officers would continue to use stop and search powers while the court’s decision was appealed.

Be it here, in American or the UK, where there is a protest against the cops and the media cameras are there rolling of course the Cops will be on their best behavior. The can't show their true colors for the world to see.. However what will happen to these photographers in the days to come is the true question. Will the stops increase now, of course they will since big media cameras are not around. More photographers and tourists will be stop and harassed for taking photos.

Britain's terrorism laws were dealt a blow last week when the European Court of Human Rights ruled that stop-and-search powers under Section 44 of the Act were a breach of human rights.
The ruling came after lengthy legal fight by two people who were stopped and searched on their way to a London demonstration.
The court found that the "coercive powers" of the anti-terrorism legislation amounted to a clear interference with the right to respect for private life. The British government is appealing the decision, saying the powers are an important tool in the fight against terrorism.

A look back, will this happen in 2010?

March the 3rd of 2009, the local anti-gay marriage group NC4Marriage held a rally in Raleigh, NC My partner and I attend this event. I search the web, local lgbt blogs and local lgbt org's site to see if a counter protest was going to be held. I found nothing, I sent emails, those whom reply simply said that a counter protest would do nothing for our cause. Yet we held supportive protest for those events in CA and other Major cities, Yet they didn't one a protest for anti-gay actions being held in our own State. Why is that? It was suggest just to attend the NC Equality Day of Action at the Capital instead. Which many of these same bigots also attended.

Once we arrive there was a small group holding a protest. Why my partner stay with them I walk among those who would deny us many rights that we should have. I took over 500 pictures of the group. I was only ask to leave after photographing a group of young ladies who was display some very questionable actions.

I when back to the small counter protest, just to find out I miss the local news reported whom was covering the event. i stay for a while but before leave I decide to return once more to the rally, that is when I notice Ian P. from NC Equality having a chat with these bigots.

I wonder if NC4Marriage will hold this rally again this year.

Freedom of Speech and Expression under attack from Equality DC

A freedom of expression battle is underway in D.C. as Stand for Marriage D.C., the most outspoken voice against D.C.'s recent legalization of marriage equality, has placed ads on the District's Metrobuses urging that citizens be allowed to vote on civil rights.
Full Equality Now DC wants the ads removed by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) on the grounds that they disrespect LGBT residents.

Wow, what else is new.

DC pass Marriage Equality, Anti-gay Marriage groups vow to undo it, take out ad, which is their legal right and the Local Gays Group cry foul.. Its ok for us to have these rights but not the anti-groups to have them.

Why Won't HRC Jump On Board the DNC Boycott?

Often viewed, accurately, as an extension of the Democratic party, the Human Rights Campaign has gone back and forth with how much criticism it's willing to levy on the White House and members of Congress. But now that members of the indie (read: non-Gay Inc.) activist scene are boycotting the Democratic National Committee, where will HRC's chips fall?

HRC's Joe Solmonese, who claims to represent the entire LGBT community but completely bails out on certain gay issues, claims to enjoy special power brokering relationships in Washington. Supporters might see lots of handshakes between Solmonese and lawmakers; actual action and influence, however, is harder to spot.

It's eerily difficult to tell just how hard HRC is pressuring Democrats on its own. Some might say HRC merely "advises" them.

One minute, the organization is demanding action from Obama; the next, it's giving him a seven-year pass.

But now that somebody else (initially, it's Americablog's John Aravosis and Joe Sudbay) is actually calling for the closing of LGBT coffers — the "gayTM," if you will — will HRC get on board?

I tell you why,, they don't want to bit the hand that feed them, and Joe needs to stop sucking their cocks and kissing their fucking asses...better yet Joe need to completely fuck off and step down.... and find something else to do instead of throwing us under the bus when he need to, (when $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) is involve..

After a 15-minute march down College Point Boulevard to the sullen or unknowing stares of locals, we were shocked to find a group of 20 or so counter-protesters, PRO gay bashers, already in a pen perilously close to the park where the rally was to take place. Leading the pro-bashers was Mr. Leviticus Tattoo Douchbag himself. He and his co-thugs wore stickers in support of the jailed cowards as they shouted "Free Daniel Rodriquez!" and "No hate crime!" Among their signs was "Daniel doesn't hate gays!" Riiiight. Fortunately, there was a huge NYPD presence on hand and the two groups were not permitted to get closer than shouting distance.

So times I'm thankful for living in low volence area in the State, while other area it seem that the local LGBT community is under attack almost everyday by these bigots and complete assholes..

Longtime activist Andy Thayer is angry and he’s taking his anger from Chicago to Washington. Thayer, you may remember, co-founded the effective online StopDrLaura campaign with fellow activist Robin Tyler, among other actions.

Pro-LGBT Picket of Obama This Saturday Moved from White House to HRC Gala
In reaction to the announcement yesterday that President Obama will address a black tie fundraising gala of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) on Saturday, October 10th, organizers of a pro-LGBT picket originally scheduled for that night at the White House have instead moved the picket to the site of the HRC gala. The picket will begin at 6 PM in front of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, on the northeast corner of Mt Vernon Place NW and 9th Street NW, Washington, DC.
While the picket organizers will be participating in the Sunday, Oct. 11th Equality March, they charge that the march organizers have been going easy on the Obama administration and the Democratic Party in general.  Barack Obama was long on pro-gay promises during the campaign, they say, yet short on delivering on them once he took power in late January.
“The time for talking is over,” said Andy Thayer of the Chicago-based Gay Liberation Network (www.GayLiberation.net), one of the two organizations sponsoring the picket.  “This President promised to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), he promised to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, he promised to pass the pro-LGBT Employment Non-Discrimination Act and a whole host of other things.  Instead, he’s delivered on nothing while embracing anti-gay bigots Rick Warren and Donnie McClurkin.  The last thing we need is more flowery rhetoric in front of rich, self-effacing gays and lesbians dressed up like penguins.”
The picket is cosponsored by the Dallas-based direct action group, Queer Liberaction (queerliberaction.moonfruit.com), a group which played a leading role in organizing an effective community response to the violent police raid on a Fort Worth bar.  ”The Obama administration has likened LGBT relationships to incest and bestiality,” said Queer Liberaction co-founder Blake Wilkenson.  “He cited his ‘Christian beliefs’ for the reason why he now opposes equal marriage rights for same-sex couples.  He refuses issue a stop-loss order to prevent purges of lesbian and gay soldiers.  If we are going to get real change out of this White House, we need to make demands of this President.  As the great anti-slavery activist Frederick Douglass put it, ‘Power concedes nothing without a demand.’”

Protest and organization have forced Obama to make this gesture of attending this fundraiser. Protest and organization forced Bill Clinton to come out in favor of gay marriage. Protest and organization has forced Congress to propose bills repealing DOMA and DADT one week before the march.
   Lobbying and licking the Democratic Party’s ass hasn’t gotten us shit.

I was there, but left before this happen

On Sept 11, I went to Smithfield, NC to photograph those wacky racist teabagger. After I got some great shots within a hour, I decide to leave. A couple of day later while reading one of my fav photo issue blog, click here to visit, I read this on his blog,

The North Carolina protesters had applied for a permit in July but were told they didn’t need one. But days before the event, that all changed and they were told they needed a permit, but by then, it was too late to apply.

In July, Stemler appeared before the Smithfield Town Council and informed the Board of her intentions.  On July 14, Stemler filed a Temporary Use Permit Application with Smithfield Planning Director Paul Embler, but was reportedly told by Embler the permit application was not needed.  Days before the event, Stemler said she learned from Embler a permit was in fact needed but it was too late to receive Council approval.

Now the town of Smithfield is up in arms over the incident.

Smithfield Town Manager Eric Williams tells WTSB he would like to see changes made after police shut down a peaceful 9-11 Patriots Day Rally on the steps of the Johnston County Courthouse Friday afternoon.  Williams also voiced his displeasure with a comment made by a Smithfield police officer on Monday who stated, “Those tea baggers, they got what was coming.”  Williams said, “It is not a comment that makes me very happy.”

I know for the hour I was there the good ole boys weren't there, However as usual they think just because they have the badge they can be complete assholes. I do know a Sheriff did pass by, nothing happen, serval county officials also walked thorough the crown and nothing was said. No raise the issue of a PA system even while they were plugging  it in inside the courthouse.. No one knew nothing which is common place here in NC.. They Love to play stupid..

This week edition of Q-notes has all the information and event info for the Eastern NC LGBT Community.

Matt did a wonder job cover our local protest that was held in Greenville a few weeks ago. Hats off to Matt and the staff of Qnotes.

James aka Sick, is working hard getting the much need information and forms together to open a Local LGBT Center in the Area. He knows that this task wouldn’t be easy, but he is slowing working on it.
