Gay Bashing Str8’s, who knew?

Over at Qnotes there is a piece talking about the new Speaker of the House of the NCGA, and his anti-gay past.. I guess it took a while for Matt and NC Gayiner’s to put this piece together.

So Moore, supported the State Anti-LGBT marriage amendment, didn’t think a LGBT group at college should get funds.

he has this to say on the matter,

“At the heart of the issue was the belief that we shouldn’t use taxpayer dollars or student fees to fund a gay and lesbian group, as well as a lot of other groups for that matter,” Moore told the Raleigh paper.

He has stated that he would continue to defend the state Anti-gay marriage amendment.. So, now NC GayInc is after him.. what is he to do??

Advocates for LGBT equality in the state said Friday they were disappointed with Moore’s comments.

“I think what was troubling is that Moore doubled down on his comments instead of apologizing for them at this point in 2015,” Equality North Carolina Executive Director Chris Sgro told qnotes.

Buncombe County Registrar giving Same Sex Couples False hope.

Gay couples lined up this morning outside the office of the Buncombe County registrar, who is issuing but not signing marriage licenses today. Attorney General Roy Cooper is defending the state against the lawsuit brought by the ACLU, even though he personally supports marriage equality. Buncombe County is home to Asheville, arguably the most liberal city in North Carolina.

WBC in NC today

Today I had five things plans. More or less five events I wanted to photograph, and the Protest that the WBC was to do in NC today was one of them.. However, they were no shows..

I call the local PD and ask if the WBC had received a permit to protest. The PD officer told no permit was issued and they knew nothing about this protest.. Meaning either they (WBC) was going to protest without a permit and with protection..

Since I could get confirmation I chose to go to another event.

Debate over Internet bill in NC General Assembly

The bill, which is now working its way through both the state House and Senate, is a detailed piece of legislation that supporters argue is needed to limit governments from competing with private companies that also offer Internet service.

“The bill that’s been proposed is so broad and has so many overlapping restrictions, it might well prevent us even from providing free Internet to low-income housing people,” Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker said.

GSK to Cut Jobs in NC

ABC 11 as confirmed that GSK will be cutting an undetermined numbers of jobs in the Research Triangle Park, as it scales back  its neuroscience division.

The pharmaceutical maker reported a 60 percent drop in 2010 profits earlier this month. Since 2007, the company has cut about 22,000 jobs worldwide and reduced its U.S. workforce by about 4,000.
In addition to slowing sales, the company also paid out billion to settle legal claims related to its controversial diabetes drug Avandia following allegations it increases the risk of heart attacks.

Also it will try to buy back some of it own stock by selling off lesser known drug brands..
This is more jobs loss for NC, it seem more jobs are leaving the State then coming to it..
So NCGA and Bev Perdue, where are this jobs???

A Hickory, North Carolina man called 911 to report that he had murdered his roommate Stephen Starr:
"Anderson is accused of shooting 36-year-old Starr with a shotgun and pistol and also carved a word into Starr’s body."

Starr was found in bed in what law enforcement has described as one of the most gruesome crime scenes they’ve seen in years. Anderson was charged with Starr’s murder Monday afternoon and has his first court appearance Wednesday morning. Anderson called 911 while next to Starr’s body in the master bedroom, with a gun still in his hands, according to the 911 call. Anderson was holding the pistol, Fish said. In the call, Anderson says he took some pills that “made me go mad.” He tells the woman at the communications center that he shot his roommate three times and then used an ax and mutilated his body. “I Od’d on Mucinex DM. Dextromethorphan makes me feel a little weird and I took too many,” Anderson said.

About 4 minutes and 30 seconds into the call, the telecommunicator asks what sparked the attack. Anderson said it was because he was straight, and Starr was gay. According to him, the two met at a gay club. Anderson said he was straight, but went to the club to experiment. “I met him and went to his house and he took me in and I turned straight again. And he wanted to touch me and stuff and I wouldn’t let him, and he kept trying. And I waited until he went to sleep and then I shot him three times. And I mutilated him very badly and I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Oh God, please help me.”

A Message from Senator Richard Burr

Now that we have settled into the 112^th Congress, this week saw the re-introduction of bills that did not receive a vote last Congress as well as the establishment of many committee leadership positions.

Earlier this week, an amendment was offered by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the health care reform bill that President Obama signed into law last year.  This law, marketed as health care reform, expands the size of the federal government and actually increases health care costs rather than lowering them as its supporters promised.  The new law is not only bad for our economy; it is bad for American families who are already struggling to make ends meet. 

Unfortunately, this amendment failed, but we will not stop working to repeal and replace the new health care law with real reform.  To read more about efforts to repeal this law and to learn about some of its negative consequences, click here.

I was also pleased to be reelected to serve as Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Committee.  As the Senator from a state that more than 765,000 veterans call home, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve as the Ranking Member of this committee.  We must continue to pursue sound policies that address the evolving needs of our veterans and their families while also making sure that we are getting maximum results from programs already in place.  I look forward to working with the new Committee Chairman, Senator Murray, and all the members of this Committee to address these complex, but vital issues.

It comes as no surprise that the first bill that I introduced in the 112^th Congress is related to my work on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee.  Yesterday, I reintroduced the Caring for Camp Lejeune Veterans Act, which requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide health care to veterans and their family members who have experienced adverse health effects as a result of exposure to well-water contaminated by human carcinogens at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

I introduced this bill the 111^th Congress, but it never made it out of Committee. We now have another shot at doing the right thing for the thousands of Navy and Marine veterans and their families who were harmed during their service to our country.  While we continue to seek more answers, we can minimize further suffering by allowing Lejeune veterans and their families to receive the care they need and deserve.

After a busy week in Washington, I am back in North Carolina to speak at the Tobacco Growers of North Carolina’s annual meeting in Raleigh today.  Next week, the Senate will be in session and I will be back in Washington. Will NC be the Marriage WarZone in 2011

So Will the Marriage fight come to North Carolina in 2011? I believe it will and our community isn't really for said fight at all. We haven't done enough on this issue.

North Carolina recognizes neither same-sex marriages nor any other form of legal recognition of same sex-unions. The state bans same-sex marriage, though there is no constitutional amendment implanted at this time. However, an anti-same-sex marriage bill is currently pending. Based on a poll, 76 percent of those surveyed support a constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriage and similar unions. In another poll, over half of North Carolina residents would oppose a ban on same-sex marriage, though the majority does not support granting full marriage rights to same-sex couples. 27.5% of those polled support civil unions or registered partnerships providing most of the rights found in a civil marriage, and 20.8% of those polled support full same-sex marriage. 44.4% oppose any form of legal recognition for same-sex couples.

Sheriffs want lists of patients using painkillers

This is one of our elected sheriff who wants to know what types and how much legal drug you are taking

Sheriffs made their pitch Tuesday to a legislative health care committee looking for ways to confront prescription drug abuse. Local sheriffs said that more people in their counties die of accidental overdoses than from homicides.
For years, sheriffs have been trying to convince legislators that the state's prescription records should be open to them.
"We can better go after those who are abusing the system," said Lee County Sheriff Tracy L. Carter.
Others say opening up patients' medicine cabinets to law enforcement is a terrible idea.

Look, first statement they are concern over accidental overdoses, then they talk about finding those you are abusing the system..

We don't need these type of sheriffs at all, you wants to play with the big boys whom make laws... if they do then let them run for those offices..

NC DOMA Protest/Call to Action for Obama Administration

How nice you make plans to go to a protest to show your support for your community and what happens the protest organizers cancels the event. I guess why not, when you can sit at home and write a letter instead of meeting group for few hours outside. I can only guess that many thought it was just too cold or it might be wet and cold that day.

There's no actual rally anymore. Sorry - I'll try to make it more clear. Instead we're just asking people to get signatures and we'll have several drop off locations that are listed.

If we want change we have to show up and demand it. No one will give it to us. If we didn't realize that before we certainly should now.

We've change to game plan and now we're working towards getting 50,000 signatures from North Carolina to support the nationwide 1,000,000 signatures needed in our Open Letter to Barack Obama.

Just like he'll really will read it, Please everyone knows that the President doesn't read his own mail. Well, after someone else does it first.

So now there will be no rally or protest, just a letter writing campaign.

but watch knowing my luck there still just might a protest, well since I don't live in Raleigh, I guess I can't take that chance , so if the protest does process, I wish them the best.. 

Why not North Carolina??

I visit the Phelps site today as I do at least one a week to check on there up coming protests. Each week I hope to see a listing for North Carolina, one in which I might be able to attend and photograph these nuts. I once thought about getting a paintball gun and paintballing them. Just to see what they would do.

I have notice that they don't seem to ever be coming to NC at all. I would have to wonder why that is?? I mean we have military bases here, and I'm sure somewhere we are doing so play or event that they feel they need to speak out about.

I wonder if there isn't another reason why they chose to stay out of NC.. If anyone knows a reason please share it with me and the rest of the state..

NC Prop 8 protest on the Same day as N.C. Equality Conference and Gala

I was hoping to go to the NC Equality Conference as a event recorder, now I'm tear between gong to one of these Prop 8 protests, two are close to me, the one in Raleigh and Greenville. I know I would get more interesting photos shots at these events than at the NC Equality Conference and Gala. Then I would miss out on the conference and meeting few persons of interest.

I don't understand why these Organizer in NC would have chosen the 15 for this when so many would be a the NC Equality Conf & Gala, It would be like having these protest on NC Pride Day.

What to do what to do, If I choose to go to a protest instead of the Conference, I hope the Conference will be another great success for those who do attend.

Young voters make their voices heard in North Carolina primary

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Tilden Hagan spends his days cruising college campuses trying to pick up students.

His line: Let me tell you about my mom.

Before they can answer, Tilden Hagan, a 25-year-old Duke University alumnus with shaggy hair, launches into a speech about the ills of America's health care system, lack of financial aid for students and slow progress in making energy green. He insists his mother, Kay

Hagan, can fix what's broken with America and tells them she needs their vote in the May 6 Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate.

"I hope my mom sounds like someone you want to vote for," Tilden Hagan recently told a group of 20 young Democrats at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

First off I sometime wonder why these candidates would get their families involve. Isn't there a conflict of interest here.. I mean these kids who campaign on behalf of their parents are bias, because they want their parent to win the election that they are in.

We know she will do an excellent job standing up for North Carolina in the U.S. Senate. Her dedication, work ethic and energy are unmatched.

Now its funny to me because at least two of her kids were living in CA when she decide to run for  the Senate.

When North Carolina Democrat Kay Hagan told her three children that she was thinking of running for U.S. Senate against Republican Elizabeth Dole, her son Tilden started wondering if he could pull off exchanging his California life for a Carolina one. 

Now Tilden went to Duke which is mostly white, with 52% of the college make up where African-American makes only 10% enrollment for 2008 and only 6% of African-Americans graduate in 2007, and his home town is 55% white; could this explain why Tilden Hagan didn't seek out African-Americans during his Visit to Rocky Mount, NC during RMT downtown fair call Downeast festival.

He was there campaigning for his mother Kay Hagan, I was there for 6 hours, in that time frame I didn't see him approach any single or group of African-America, I was told by a volunteer at the Democratic office in Rocky Mount that there was one African-American at the event with Tilden, this same volunteer also said that at time Tilden didn't feel comfortable around large groups of African-Americans.

SNT: Dole distance herself from Bush,

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole swept through the Twin Counties on Monday, working to distance herself from President Bush while taking a few jabs at her Democratic opponent along the way.

For the most part, though, Dole was content talking about her own record and meeting face-to-face with voters during campaign stops at Heritage Hospital in Tarboro and the Nash County GOP headquarters in Rocky Mount. 

Why would she try to distance herself from Bush, while she try to embrace the spirit of Jessie Helms, As my elected official she is a complete waste of time and energy. I can't believe that she try to get Helms name added to a AIDS bill, when everyone knows how he felt about people with AIDS. Sometimes I wonder if she has anything up in that head of hers.

I once wrote her about her policy on gays in the service and gay marriage, what did I get back, a form letter stating how special marriage is and how it must be protected.

To be honest I never did expected much from this old dry up prune, and if I didn't know better I could swear that Helms and her was brother and sister. Both was and is bad for NC
