NC Getequal is get desperate for speakers. a Side note, I would like to know why EqualityNC turn them down when they were ask to speak at this event????

So its OK for us to Rally to show support for CA, when Prop8 happen, It was OK for us to rally against NOM when they came to town. Yet, We can't rally against a bunch of local bigots from our own state. Our Local LGBT leaders and Community Activists only want us to visit our state Rep in Raleigh, and talk what this anti-marriage bill would do to us.

Where the GOP is in power and trying hardness to return us back the fifties.

I want to know why we can’t have a Marriage Equality Rally, or a Rally to protest this Anti-marriage bill??

Yes we should speak with our elected officials in Raleigh, but if your elected  official is one of the many co-signer of this bill, what good will it do.

Equality NC whom have been leading this fight for the last 7 or 8 years now, is doing a post card campaign which I hope will do a lot of good. If we can gather 30, 000 thousand signatures on paper, guess what 30 thousand people showing up at your place or work would look like.

to me 30 thousand in the flesh live people could do and say a hell of a lot more then just 30 thousand pieces of paper..

That is right Qnotes’s Editor Matt has written his piece about the Equality NC Town Hall Meeting concerning the anti-LGBT constitutional amendment, for which means that only one more will be written that will what the LGBT folks of Charlotte discuss at their Town Hall on the 24th of March.

He gave kudos to Pam on her piece that she wrote concerning the Town Hall in her area, on her blog.

Matt, did mention that there is a Greenville Town Hall Meeting set for April 6. However he didn’t give the address or location of the meeting.

So anyone whom might be interest in attending the Greenville Town Hall, now has to search the net for this info.

There was a question about whether Gov. Beverly Perdue has made a public statement about the amendment. She has not, but has told ENC privately that she opposes it. [Pam - well that sh*te has to end. She needs to stand up to the bigots, LGBT NC taxpayers are teachers, state workers; people she's spent time talking about how important they are].

Gay Inc., going after a NY Congressman

Well the Gay Inc bloggers have gotten their new email list of stories that Gay Inc want the blog world to be flooded with.

On the morning of Friday, January 14, a single 34-year-old woman put an ad in the "Women for Men" section of Craigslist personals. "Will someone prove to me not all CL men look like toads?" she asked, inviting "financially & emotionally secure" men to reply.

Lee's Craigslist correspondent—a government employee from Maryland who asked not to be identified—liked what she saw. She replied flirtatiously. He replied with a PG-13 muscle picture.

By modern day standards, the conversation was relatively banal: No prostitutes, escorts, or madams were involved. Just good old fashioned lying and an apparent willingness to cheat on one's wife:

Taste of bigotry in your mouth

All over the fact, that the  Christian owned Chick-fil-A support anti-gay groups with their money. The first clue that Chick-fil-A is owned by a Religious group is that they are close every Sunday.

Of course, the President of Chick-fil-A wants gay people to share no hard feelings. The restaurant will gladly feed homosexuals gobs of chicken sandwiches, after all. But when it comes to marriage, Chick-fil-A believes strongly that same-sex couples just don't deserve equal rights.
As we wrote about a few weeks ago, Chick-fil-A's charitable arm, the WinShape Foundation, has been particularly active in the fight against marriage equality. Now comes some email correspondence that Good As You has shared on their blog, where the WinShape Foundation's Retreat Center -- a center run by the charitable arm of Chick-fil-A -- admits that they have a severe distaste for LGBT people.

Yet the President of Chick-fil-A still says that all people, including LGBT people, are treated with respect by the restaurant?

What Change Org, and other blogs like the blend does tell you, but I will. I know a Chick-fil-A owner, and She is an Out and Proud Lesbian, she hire LGBT folks too. I guess the community will call her a turn coat or a self hating, loathing Lesbian. Surely would boycott her the Country Club, simply because she a Chick-Fil-A owner.

See even in our own community we have double standards on judging our members. We don’t even have equality within our community..

NCLR'S Kate Kendell in Raleigh talks Prop 8 and its impact on NC

Ok first off I didn’t make it to this event, Which if I did I might have been ask to leave. However Prop8 only effect us here in NC through our wallets.

Now I’ve watch the minute and half video taken by Pam, I love the part that Kate claim these Large National Groups, Organizations would have our back in our time of need.. I guess we will have to wait and see if this happens.

But we can, as Kate underscored, stave off an amendment by speaking directly to our legislators, a chance every LGBT has at the upcoming Day of Action, sponsored by Equality NC (Feb 15, 2011 from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM). They need to see that they have LGBT constituents, taxpayers who should not have their civil rights put before the people for a vote. As I've said before, North Carolina LGBTs can turn out in the thousands for NC Pride, but it's pitiful that we cannot muster more than 300 to show up and speak with the very lawmakers who profoundly affect their rights.

MMM, the almighty day of Action, Please, these guys will sit and talk with us and in the end will still screw us while we are standing, and face it we all know it. My trust and faith in the Equality NC is not as strong as it once was, after the damn “fruit loop” event. Which made us look like a bunch of kids on the play ground fighting for attention from our parents.

Well I’ve found out after there was a update on PHB blog, that Kate only spoke for 7 min, wow, where did she find the time. Also, there was no Q&A session, then what the fuck was the point of her coming to NC and holding this little coffee house chat.

UPDATE: Here's the transcript...Kate spoke for about 7 min  and this was the meat of the message. There was no public Q&A; Kate went around to speak with attendees individually and in small groups since the restaurant was a bit noisy.

Also remember this too why debating this.

for the first time since Reconstruction, is completely under the control of the Republicans. Dem control has been the only thing that has protected us from a marriage amendment getting on the ballot.

She then talk to folks in small group, cause the shop got noisy, I thought we had a LGBT Center in Raleigh, couldn’t they held the meeting there, or found another place where there wouldn’t have been so noisy where 1) Kate could have talk longer, 2) and most importantly where a Q&A session could’ve taken place.
I love the main reason why Kate said was the reason they lost.

we lost Prop 8 for all sorts of reasons. "Yeah we should have had different ads for the campaign" and "I wish we had money sooner"... but the main reason we lost was complacency.

So what does COMPLACENCY means,

Well, you know the truth does hurt, doesn’t it. The fact is that we are in our 30th year of Aids, which we all know how to control the spread of it by now. Yet many LGBT positive folks still have unprotected sex with their partners, and one nite stands, and those 15 min quickies in the Adult books, and in park cars.

I remember that actions done by Act-up and Larry K. in the early days/years of Aids. Groups and LGBT folks took control of the information, passed condoms by the handfuls. Held many public talks and the HIV rate went down in our community, while it slowly inched up in the straight community. Somewhere in the 90’s bareback sex come back in to fashion, and the rate went back up.

So if your recklessly go out and have unprotected sex and get HIV, why should the state pay for your mistakes, that RIGHT YOUR MISTAKES. WHEN YOU KNEW HOW TO STOP IT FROM GETTING SOMETHING.

Just because Larry Brown is an elected official doesn’t mean he lost his freedom of speech. If we don’t like what he is saying and selling to all the other elected officials then vote him out of office.

So the Question is, are we ready for this fight if it comes? 
Also just which National Organizations have our backs? 
Which rich fat cats will step up and support our fight in this state? 
Which Companies and local business will stand with us?

The Double Standard LGBT use to define hate Speech

Is Jeebus a hate speech term, to most LGBT member the answer is no, Yet maybe to Christians it is.

So with that; why is ok for LGBT use anti-Christian term and hate speech, while demanding Christians stop using hate terms against us..

LaBarbera is full of hate b/c of his family situation. He needs a shrink.

so what does Jeebus means, A name used on progressive blogs to deride intolerant religious rightwingers ("fundies") who use the Christian faith as a flag and front for every one of their nastiest motivations, statements and actions, hiding hate behind professed faith. Basically "jeebus" is a code word for lefties permitting them to mock self-annointed religious frothing biters / ultraconservatives of the social or financial right who advocate selfishness and cruelty (via nutty religious errors) without actually deriding Jesus or Christianity itself which they don't have a problem with. Put alternatively, a person who follows the New Testament loves Jesus; a person who can't wait to take away sick benefits from a dying lesbian because God Hates Fags loves Jeebus. Get the diff?

So GayINC has said its ok for gays, lesbians and Transgenders folks to use hateful speech against those who used hate speech against us.  This makes us no better than them.

Pam see the light concerning HRC, well Joe anyway

Who would have thought that after having major surgery, that Pam would see the light about Joe Solmonese the head of HRC.. So insightful that even David Mixner loves her piece.. 

"It's time for the Human Rights Campaign's Joe Solmonese to tender his resignation.

By any sane performance metrics, he has failed to successfully lead. Promises like those made in the "This year we are going to bring down DADT" video at the HRC Carolina's dinner on Feb. 27 were used to extract money from low-info, fat wallet attendees. It's rinse and repeat at events like that around the country and there is precious little to show for it in terms of the major promises made by Solmonese -- and this President. 

I'm also glad that she finally prove/agree that these HRC dinners are used to extract money from the Rich Fat Cats, like David Mixner and others..

Joe Solmonese should do the honorable thing and step down. It is shameful to cash all those checks without the follow through on the job. The White House was never put under serious pressure; the late calls now in the e-blasts for the President to do something ring hollow after the toadying that has gone on for two years."

It is not divisive to ask what have we gotten for the $80 million that flowed into the coffers of the Human Rights Campaign when it comes to leadership. Those funds -- were they effectively used to ensure promised action on by this President on his major promises?

Well we have gotta a few fancy dinners and PSA and some nice gift with HRC logo on them. However Joe has gotta alot more, hundreds of first class fights all over the world, limos and lets not forget his almost 1/3 of million dollar yearly pay.. and those of the things what we know of..

Lets not forget that he was ready to throw the Trans-community under the bus if it would get ENDA pass, Remember they protest the HRC dinner that was held in Charlotte a few years back

Ms Pam has a point on this one.

In any case, critics haven't any power to change the strategic vision (such as it is), within HRC, and if those in charge simply blow off any criticism, is the community expected to sit silent with hands politely folded? There certainly hasn't been a private summit to discuss the myriad problems that have arisen, nor does there appear to be any feedback mechanism desired. I don't expect that it would occur, anyway, given the bunker mentality in place.

And as far as calls for accountability for new media/bloggers/citizen activists? Hey, that's easy -- people won't read what doesn't interest them, and our voices are limited by time -- we're not news services. As we all know here at the Blend, all it takes is a health issue to take me offline for a good long while. Voices will come and go. 

Pam knows that her voice/blog is heard/read around the world... Maybe this will get some stuff moving in the right direction..

However I would like to see Pam Support her local LGBT community a bit more. Even if she doesn't agree, she could still let others know through her blog, the "what, where, when, and how."

Gay Marriage Ban coming to NC, What will the community do now?

RALEIGH - The economy dominated the fall campaign, but leaders among North Carolina's social conservatives believe the Republican sweep at the Legislature should finally permit a vote on a state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

Will this happen this coming up year? that is the Question, however my question is what the fuck will the LGBT Community do about it.

Back in 2009 NC4Marriage had a rally to consider this topic, only about 14 members of the LGBT community protested this rally.While our so-called damn leaders didn't do a thing, and didn't want us to hold a counter-protest. Instead they wanted us to attend the NC Equality Day of Action.

However these very same individuals come out if Force When NOM was coming to town. Yes, everyone who didn't do a thing about NC4Marriage gather in Raleigh to let Brain and Maggie know that we would fight them on this issue.

One might ask just who are the LGBT Leaders in NC. To date we have Two Bloggers who fit this, a Equality group and a state LGBT newspaper. These individuals have the power to get the community to rally. Yet, only does so on the events they want. Not those that are needed.

Our local leaders are failing big time.

So I will name names here now and ask what they are going to do about it.

So NC Equality, Pam, and those at Q-notes, will you get the community to come out in force over this, or will you just site in front of your damn computer and do not a fucking thing once again. Like you guys did when NC4Marriage bused people into Raleigh. Will Q-note finally do some true and honest reporting on this matter, Will Pam Houseblend finally support those actions, (the major and the minor) in her own backyard? Or will you just follow the national groups and listen to them over those whom live in North Carolina

FTM, NOM and Qnotes

This August the 10th NOM is coming to town. it was reported and texted and discuss at lengths if there should be a counter protest or not, however four groups have step up to the plate, after i cancel my. for reason that need not to be fully discuss at this time, however its has something to with the A'List gays and lesbians in North Carolina.

Was told that Equality NC and FTM was joining forces, yet the only thing about this was an email from Ms Mann, where they are planning a truth squad to talk to the press... Since they want lower  level gay persons speaking to the media...  The Raleigh Stop isn't even listed on either site.

However they are not alone on this matter.

Our only local LGBT Newspapers whom only report items west of Interstate 95, doesn't even have this protest listed under events, yes they did a story, but didn't seem fit to add it to the event listings.

So a local national blogger can let her readers in North Carolina know about this, yet our local LGBT paper only did a story, and ENC and FTM didn't even have anything about NOM stopping in Raleigh at all on their sites, Why? I think a few of our leaders and community speakers have drop the ball on this one.

I don't know why this closet case would even fight against hate crime protections for gay people - I've seen people get their ass whooped for dressing LESS festive than this queen does. ANYONE can pose poolside with a huge pair of knockers standing behind him - he's not fooling anyone.

I re-posted a post  from Last year NC4 Marriage Rally, where the group did bus people in, yet only 17 LGBT's showed up to do a counter, and our local LGBT groups/and blogger  completely didn't talk about.. I'm sure many of these same people where at the Day of Action last year as well..

yes even Pam didn't mention that a local (her hometown) group organize this protest.. See this our problem even in our community we don't support each other, but we are so willing to kiss Joe's HRC Ass every year. What is the fucking deal...

Yes, only those whom could afford to this event, since the Tickets were over $200 dollars and more if you attend the all the events.. Proving the organizers of this event only what those whom they can suck dry, money wise that is. Did you know that the Carolinas gala is the second-largest fundraiser for HRC nationwide. When I see the room filled with so many people who clearly feel committed to LGBT equality at this gala, it is the kind of support that state and local organizations need to see as well.

So are we Second to New York or California, where most of the players who give to HRC are nothing more then a bunch self hating faggots and Dykes whom are in the fucking closet, for their fucking career, Like Ms Baxter, whom really come out, so late in life.. I wonder if the reason why she come out, was that someone was going to out her ass.

Yes, HRC does good work, but until back-stabber Joe is ousted from the leadership, and those galas are priced so more blue collar/service/retail workers can attend them, I'll have nothing to do with HRC.
I'm tired of HRC focusing on professionals and $75+/person tickets. Those of us who work for minimum wage and above who'd to be able to attend these functions too, y'know!
I've rarely if ever seen HRC focus on retail and service industry: hotels, retail chains (and not the giants like KMart and Wal-Mart), but the regionals like Kroger, Meijer, Piggly-Wiggly, etcetera.
I've also rarely seen any serious scholarly journals looking at the discrimination faced by folks like us who're in these fields as opposed to those in the upper middle class and above.

Now I see nothing wrong with this Ad, However Ms Pam seems to think McDonald's is only targetting Blacks for this Ad. And that their Food is fattening.

First off no one from McDonalds is forcing you to buy their nuggets, and other items. I see that she not after soft drinks companies, since their products also a cause of fattening people up. However the main thing about this ad that pissing her off is that its targeting black folks, by using black actors/Actress in and that it a chili sauce.

the serious issues of childhood obesity, heart health and high blood pressure that are devastating minority populations disproportionately is clearly not something McDonalds wants to touch with a ten-foot pole. Its cheap mostly unhealthy food (yeah, there are a few salads and grilled offerings) is readily available in most minority communities. Good luck finding any good grocery store, never mind a Whole Foods.

Now we see why she is piss, folks are not going to the grocery or a Whole Foods store and then going home and cooking for their families. I can bet that even she does eat out at some type of fast food store, Hell, most prepare foods you buy in Store have high level of salt in them.. Also You will find Micky D's in every community, not just the damn poor ones...

Wait, I miss it, here is the main reason why she hates it, no large people in it...

It's no mistake that those two chili sauce-loving people in that commercial are slim and attractive. A realistic portrayal would have some extra pounds carrying people bellying up to the counter for those McNuggets. But as we know, marketing isn't about reality.

Then I guess she hates all the ads for cloths, shoes, and make up..

I have notice that Pam seem to be more focus on national LGBT rights and activism then those that happen in her own backyard, unless it deals with Durham the city where she lives.
