GayInc is piss at the State Dept, Over a Damn Visa for a Cuban LGBT Activist.

Cuban LGBT rights activist Mariela Castro, the niece of Fidel and daughter of president Raul Castro, has been denied a visa to attend a gay rights forum in Philadelphia.

Equality Forum Executive Director Malcolm Lazin said in a press release that Mariela Castro, executive director of the Cuban National Center for Sex Education (CENESEX,) several months ago accepted an invitation to speak on a panel at the University of the Arts on May 4. She was also scheduled to accept an award at the group’s annual dinner that will take place later that same day at the National Museum of American Jewish History.
Lazin said the State Department issued a visa to Castro that allowed her to attend meetings at the United Nations in New York City. He said the U.S. government refused to allow her to travel to Philadelphia to attend Equality Forum that will highlight Cuba. Lazin told the Washington Blade on Thursday the Cuban government attached Equality Forum’s invitation to its application for a visa that would have allowed her to attend the event.

Yes you read correctly and Gay INc is Pissed..

Disqus Id’er Dagoril had this to say

The State Department should explain itself. The "decline to comment" makes the US look bad.

Are they being petty to her because she's Cuban and not a refugee? Being petty to her because she is related to Castro? Being petty and homophobic generally? Being petty because of sex education that is not just "abstinence only"?

this commenter had this to say Markus Hayden Sutherland ,

Yet Chinese officials and officials from other totalitarian communist countries are allowed to come and go at will and even get red (pardon the pun) carpet treatment. And they're not here to promote any form of human rights.

other commenters are blaming the Cuba in Florida for this..

Yea GayINC get the fuck over it, and move on..

Breaking News: all NYC Sluts are Pissed, NO Fleet Week

Fleet Week has officially been canceled for New York City.

The United States Navy says it will not send any ships next month and no additional sailors or Marines will head to the city for the annual Fleet Week celebration. Cuts to the defense budget under the sequester are being blamed. But a spokesperson says any Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard members who happen to be in the city will be allowed to take part in any local events that still take place. City officials say Fleet Week was expected to generate about $20 million. In a statement, the city said, "We understand the Navy’s budgetary limitations and hope that the Fleet Week tradition can continue in 2014."

What will they ever do,, no large mass of in coming peters to service..

NY Street Sluts upset, there will be no Folsom St slutfest this year

The organizers of Folsom Street East announced this afternoon that this year's event has been canceled.

It is with sadness that the Producers and Board of Directors of Folsom Street East have to announce that the 17th annual Folsom Street East Street Festival this June is going to be cancelled. Though we continue to receive support for this community-building and fundraising event from Community Board 4 and our neighbors on the block (including our producing partner The Eagle NYC), the ever-growing construction on the north side of 28th street has made it impossible for us to successfully and safely hold our annual street festival. Thank you for the years of support from our attendees, sponsors, partners, exhibitors, vendors, performers and volunteers; we are sad that we will not be able to celebrate Pride with you at our fetish-friendly event this year.

What will these sluts do now,,

Andrew Garfield Backs Gay Marriage

Spain Film Spiderman

Actor Andrew Garfield, who starred in last year's "The Amazing Spider-Man," tells The Times of London he has no qualms about backing same-sex couples' right to tie the knot.

"Of course I’m in favor of marriage equality. Same-sex couples should have the same rights as anybody else,” Garfield told the publication. “There is no argument against equality."

No shit, because he knows if he comes out against it, his career would be over, this is GayINC at work..

Equality NC Executive Director is stepping down..

stuartcampbell-199x300Campbell only worked for the Group about a year and half, now he is stepping down. I really have to wonder why.. Could it be lack of results, lack of community involvement? Who really knows?

So will Alex Miller be returning to fill in while the Equality broad seek a replacement for Campbell? Yes why not, just what we need a str8 person leading NC’s only national LGBT Group.

Here is the press release from EqualityNC,

EQUALITY NC ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE
OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, STUART CAMPBELL

RALEIGH, N.C., APRIL 15, 2011– Equality NC and its Board of Directors announced today that Stuart Campbell, the organization’s executive director since 2011, will be leaving the organization sometime in early summer. Campbell led the state’s premier lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization during its high-profile 2011-2012 campaign against Amendment One, North Carolina’s constitutional ban on marriage equality.

“I leave Equality NC with an incredible sense of pride in the movement we have built during what could be considered the most pivotal two years in North Carolina’s LGBT rights movement.” said Campbell. “As positive momentum in favor of LGBT issues continues to build across the nation, region, and state, I am confident in the future of this organization, and remain grateful for the tireless efforts of our board, staff, and supporters to never stop fighting for Equality.”

During Campbell’s tenure with Equality NC, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization has effectively lobbied the North Carolina General Assembly, executive branch, local governments, and electorate on issues like marriage equality, employment discrimination, adoption, domestic partnership, HIV/AIDS, and more.

In the process, Equality NC secured introduction of bills protecting LGBT workers, strengthened the state’s HIV/AIDS prevention and care programs by helping defend funding for critical needs; supported the elections of a growing number of LGBT legislative candidates, including current representative, Marcus Brandon; and built a coalition of partners and community leaders who tirelessly advocate on the behalf of LGBT North Carolinians.

“Over the past two years, our fight to defeat Amendment One galvanized a state full of new and seasoned LGBT leaders and advocates, and, despite Amendment One’s passage, I truly believe we can sustain this positive momentum in future efforts to secure LGBT rights, benefits and protections.” said Campbell.

Under Campbell’s leadership, Equality NC also experienced significant growth. The statewide LGBT organization now boasts over 100,000 supporters, 50,000 online activists, including thousands of donors, hundreds of volunteers, 23 active board members, and a team of six employees. Because of these successes, Equality NC has earned a national reputation as one of the strongest and most well-respected statewide LGBT advocacy groups in the country.

“I will miss working at Equality NC, but moving forward I know the organization has never been in better hands. I will be proud to be one of the thousands of people across this state and this nation who will never stop fighting for Equality in North Carolina,” said Campbell.

Responding to Campbell’s announcement, Elaine Martin, Equality NC Board Chair said, “I am deeply sorry to see Stuart leave. Not only has he had a very positive impact on the organization, but under his leadership we’ve experienced exceptional growth and had milestones in the LGBT movement I never would have thought possible.”

Martin reported that she and Equality NC Foundation Board Chair Ken Wittenauer have already started the process of creating a search committee to oversee the recruitment and selection of the next executive director at Equality NC.

“Today, we focus on acknowledging and celebrating Stuart’s accomplishments,” said Martin. “Speaking for our board of directors, Equality NC is deeply grateful for his work and we wish him the absolute best in his future endeavors.”

Equality NC is a statewide organization working to secure equal rights and justice for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender North Carolinians.

At this point and time it would wise for them to appoint Jen Jones or one others who have been for so long. Yet the board will seek another person out of state.. Who just might not be up to task of running EqualityNC..

NC Senate Votes to Restart Racially Biased Death Penalty

Forty-five years ago today, the world lost one of its greatest prophetic leaders of the modern age. On April 4, 1968, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot down on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, in the middle of his most ambitious vision to date: the Poor People's Campaign. Two years ago, on the 43rd anniversary of Dr. King's brutal murder, the NC General Assembly chose to "honor" his legacy by introducing a bill that gutted the Racial Justice Act of its strongest provisions that attempted to rid racial bias from the application of capital punishment in NC.

This General Assembly seems to have a disposition to introducing its most radical and blatantly racist legislation around Dr. King's last day on earth. The NC Senate's decision to pass an extreme piece of legislation yesterday is disturbing. They want to simultaneously cut current protections against discrimination under RJA while speeding up and making it easier to kill people.
