It seems HRC is always the recipient of some sort of criticism. It’s natural, really. Being such a big target leaves plenty of room for folks with darts. And you can always expect anti-HRC sentiment or other criticisms to be taken up a notch with their national or local fundraising dinners roll around.Well to be fair, he is correct, those whom plan, make the calls, and set up the gala are the true heros of this event, however the criticism that HRC has received in the past is truely deserved. Last year, HRC gala in Charlotte was protest by members of our own community, Why, because they (HRC) basicly throw the trans-community under the bus in DC, over a bill in congress, Many knows what that bill was/is.
What the critics often fail to recognize is all the hard work and dedication put into organizing local and state dinners by community members who really are making a difference at home. Dinner and state HRC steering committee members are involved in a plethora of other organizations and contribute to good and effective local and state groups.
Then lets take whom is speaking this year in Raleigh, Meredith Baxter, whom recently came out is a honor guess speaker. Wow, she worked all those years in the closet, and now since career is almost over.. She finally decide to come out the closet. Maybe she thought it would help her get more rolls, who knows?.
I would bet if a certain Scientologist member would come out of the closet he would be ask to be at the HRC Galas in CA... sadly this is how our community works. You can speak bad about, and not support us while in the closet, but as soon you come out we will welcome you with open arms.
then we have this too,
5:00 - 10 p.m. - 2010 HRC Carolinas GalaThey claim these Gala is for the whole community, but we all know it not true, unlike the ENC gala, this gala is a black tie event, and to make sure the high upper class doesn't have to mingle with the lower class they get this nice VIP Cocktail Reception why the rest has to wait out side to be let in. Where I bet Joe Solmon-sleaze will kiss some major you know what.
Raleigh Convention Center
500 South Salisbury Street
5-6 p.m. - Federal Club and VIP Cocktail Reception
(Federal Club Members, Corporate Sponsors, and VIP guests only)
5:30 p.m. – Cocktails and Silent Auction7-10 p.m. – Dinner and Program
Out of all the folks at HRC why does Joe have to be one to speak on behalf of HRC. He makes over a quarter million dollars a year and gets to travel to these galas on HRC dime. I bet if he had to pay out of his own wallet for the planes, hotel and cars, he wouldn't be at so many of these events.
It time for fresh blood at HRC, Joe has to go.......
