The latest scheme will be the subject of a Senate Commerce Committee hearing Wednesday on "The State of Online Consumer Privacy." Regulators claim various online nuisances such as spam, identity theft and other privacy invasions cry out for government intervention. It's a classic Washington power grab for the digital era.
