Separate but Equal
Separate but equal is a set phrase that systems of segregation giving different "colored only" facilities or services with the declaration that the quality of each group's public facilities remain equal. The phrase also came from the article written by an anonymous person in 1869. The article titled "Separate but Equal" was about how people had equal rights but were separated because of race. via Wikipedia.

I wonder this because of a piece I read tonight on Advocate.com. I was bit bore and decide to read past Commentary. The Commentary was written by Jasmyne Cannick, it was written back in July 2006. I guess if I call her a reverse racist I would be wrong and out of order, right.
Well maybe if the black communities stop living in the damn past maybe things could be better then what is now. Also maybe if the Black community open up and allow true dialogue maybe there wouldn't be so much misunderstanding.
Then again the Black community does like to keep to its self doesn't it. Has the black community back to the days of Separate by Equal. It seems they want everything Separate these days, separate pride days, AIDS awareness groups and out reach centers.

Black gays would be better off building coalitions with the larger black community, but we can’t because every time we turn around the gay leadership is using their money to get in good with the black leadership and leaving us out of the picture completely.

Transwoman and her boyfriend murdered in Indianapolis
Two Indianapolis residents were killed over the holidays. While details aren't definite, it would appear one or both individuals were specifically targeted. If the double slaying is a hate crime, nothing will be done about it. Indiana doesn't have a hate crimes law; instead we have a "hate crimes reporting" law, but there is no recourse if police departments don't report to the state. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department stopped documenting hate crimes years ago.
Michael Hunt, 22, and Avery Elzy, 34, were found shot to death in "a bedroom." A dog in the room was also killed. While any murder is horrific, the IMPD's statements and news coverage of the homicide have been particularly heinous. Once again, Indianapolis is proving to the LGBT community that our city isn't sensitive to our concerns, lacks basic knowledge of our needs, and could absolutely care less.
I wonder if they could have been targeted for another reason. However the LGBT community will said it was because she was trans-gender.
What if, it was one of her past boyfriends who didn't want to let her go, would it still be a hate crime in our eyes. What if it was about drugs? Why is the LGBT Community and other media outlets so quick to call it a hate crime? Sometimes we are our own worst enemy. Lets wait to see what facts will turn up before labeling it a hate crime, shall we.

You be the Judge, Do these 21 delegates of the Mr Gay World contest all look alike, and do these really represent the whole community?
To me they all fit the cookie cutter image. Seven of the twenty-one don't fit the twink image. They are all young, there are a few that is over 30, shocking isn't it. However I feel the LGBT isn't fully counted for.
During the stage competitions and particularly in the personal interviews, the jury will focus on the delegate who:
shows an interest in the world and people around him;
displays patience, has a compassionate and considerate nature;
embraces change, or things and people different from his own frame of reference, experience or cultural background;
can articulate his thoughts and conduct an intelligent conversation;
has a basic innate charm and sparkle;
is special, and authentic;
has poise and is secure with himself, without coming across as arrogant;
is the ambassador that his nation and local community is proud of;
can be a diplomat of goodwill;
has natural leadership skills;
he inspires his peers and people around him;
is willing to take risks and become something larger than he had imagined;
is willing to have fun, push his personal comfort zones, and meet many wonderful people around the globe and be part of a very select and special group of men.
this is what I have a problem with,
The delegate will treat his body as his temple and will be active and outgoing. He will have impeccable grooming standards
So one must be fit, does that mean if one as a few extra pounds that they are not fits, now I'n not talking about those that may be very large, but those who may have love handles.. Grooming Standards?? So I guess this mean that they don't want to see much face hair and or body hair. For what I can see only two has facial hair, and it seems that all have smooth bodies. I guess waxing is a must.
However what will these 24 guys look like the day of the contest. All will be shaved have all body hair removed.

How many of our community leaders and icons really fits this, i can think of one member of our community who embodies all the above, but he if was to run He would not even make it to the finals.
These so called contest are about looks only and nothing more then that.
The Mr. Gay World Pageant utilizes the concept of a 'beauty contest' to raise the self esteem and visibility of gay men internationally. The man eventually selected will join the ranks of the many positive role models in the international gay community and will help contribute to breaking the negative stereotype of being gay or different, which is used to justify lesser forms of human rights for gay people, an experience shared by many throughout the world.
Well who ever is chosen will not break one stereotype, that in the gay community it all about looks. Going by who ever wrote the above line, it means that as gay men we don't have self esteem unless we all look alike, that we must all be the same to have self esteem. Positive role models in the LGBT community don't need to be models at all. Which seem to the a requirement in these contests.
A Day at the Park
Today was a great day, nice and warm, so I went to the park to try out my tri-pod that I got for christmas. These are so of the pictures I took today.
Why not North Carolina??
I visit the Phelps site today as I do at least one a week to check on there up coming protests. Each week I hope to see a listing for North Carolina, one in which I might be able to attend and photograph these nuts. I once thought about getting a paintball gun and paintballing them. Just to see what they would do.I have notice that they don't seem to ever be coming to NC at all. I would have to wonder why that is?? I mean we have military bases here, and I'm sure somewhere we are doing so play or event that they feel they need to speak out about.
I wonder if there isn't another reason why they chose to stay out of NC.. If anyone knows a reason please share it with me and the rest of the state..

I'm also very interested to see this movie, as a person who successfully abandoned his homosexuality as a sexual-addiction, by facing up to the real underlying issues that caused such an addiction in me, and then dealing with those in legitimate, non-sexual ways.
You see, I view homosexual behavior as a sexual drug that is used to mask the pain of a deeper issue. And, for me at least, same-sex attraction (SSA) had absolutely nothing to do with sex! It had everything to do with those deeper relationship issues from my youth. I've met many other men who found out the same thing that I did, and also abandoned homosexual behaviors. But I've yet to see the movie that would dare, today, to approach this subject with any balance of truth and hard facts toward that reasoning. And so I'm also very skeptical of this one. Movies like this tend to be very politically-correct and one-sided in their approach to this very emotional subject, and they tend to portray the Christian faith in a very negative, unrealistic light, showing it to be fanatical instead of loving. The ironic thing is that the very fact that I've taken this balanced approach toward my own homosexual behaviors, now makes me the target of the very kinds of hatred and abuse from gay activists, that they claim to be trying to overcome themselves. And I've found that their idea of "tolerance" really means, "We’re tolerant of the views of other people only inasmuch as they conform to our own beliefs about the homosexual lifestyle."

No Gays in the Cabinet, Surprise, Was it another lie from Obama
LGBT Americans were hit with yet another piece of bad news Thursday -- no openly gay people will be appointed to President-elect Obama’s cabinet.
Less than 24 hours after the announcement that antigay pastor Rick Warren would be giving the invocation at Obama's inauguration, reports surfaced that Rep. Hilda Solis is the incoming president’s pick as secretary of the Labor Department. The Labor and Interior posts having been the only two positions left for which openly gay qualified candidates were still in the running, LGBT leaders conceded that no out person will be seated at the cabinet table.
“It’s now clear that President Obama’s top appointees will gather in a cabinet room that does not reflect the living rooms, board rooms, or rooms of worship across this country,” said Chuck Wolfe, president and CEO of the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund.
Was this just another lie to get us to vote for him, he chose a few openly gay candidates knowing full well they would not be appointed.
Face American and LGBT Community, there will be no Change just more the same, double talk and two face promises.

Gang rape of lesbian, a questionable hate crime
(San Francisco, California) Police in Richmond, northeast of San Francisco, are hunting four men accused of the brutal kidnapping and gang rape of a lesbian. Investigators have appealed to the public for help and have posted a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrests and conviction of the men.First off the rape by it self is bad enough, however to call it a hate crime is going to be hard to do since they only way the DA will be able to prove it is if one of the guys confess that is why they rape her. In most cases it about power not if she is a lesbian or not.
Police said that the 28 year old victim was confronted by the four as she got out of her car on December 12. She was beaten, raped and robbed. When the attackers heard someone approaching they forced the women into her car and made her drive to a desolate area where the attack and rape continued.
Police said that during the ordeal the men made a series of homophobic remarks. Investigators said they believe the men realized the victim was a lesbian because of a rainbow sticker on her car.
If the men are caught they will face a hate crime charge on top of charges of rape, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, carjacking and kidnapping.
The men escaped in the victim’s car. She was able to get help from a nearby resident who called police and paramedics.
The woman was treated in hospital and continues to receive psychological counseling.
NYC man who claims cops sodomized him to sue
(New York City) A tattoo parlor employee who claims he was assaulted and sodomized by New York City police officers has filed papers to sue the city and the police department.
Michael Mineo says he was attacked Oct. 15 in a subway station. Officer Richard Kern was charged with aggravated sexual abuse and assault; fellow Officers Alex Cruz and Andrew Morales were charged with hindering prosecution and official misconduct for allegedly covering up the crime.
All three pleaded not guilty.
Mineo filed a notice of claim in the first step to filing a lawsuit against the city. He seeks $200 million in damages for permanent and severe injuries.
The city’s Law Department is reviewing the papers.
First off even he knows he want get that much, he will be lucky to get about 5 million if lucky after his blodd sucking lawyer gets 40% of what ever he is awarded.

Tequila Christmas Cake Recipe
Once again this holiday, I have had requests for my Tequila Christmas Cake Recipe so here
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup water
1 tsp. salt
1 cup brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 bottle tequila
2 cups dried fruit
Sample the tequila to check quality. Take a large bowl; check the tequila again to be sure it is of the highest quality.
Repeat.
Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.
At this point, it is best to make sure the tequila is still OK. Try another cup just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy.
Break 2 eegs and add to the bowl and chuck iin the cup of dried fruit.
Pick the fruit up off the floor.
Mix on the turner.
If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the tequila to test for tonsisticity.
Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something.
Check the tequila.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.
Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don't forget to beat off the turner
Finally, throw the bowl through the window.
Finish the tequila and wipe the counter with the cat.

"A student-produced newspaper at the Academy for Arts, Science & Technology [in Myrtle Beach] was banned from being distributed last month after students failed to clear an editorial advocating same-sex marriage with the school administration. WASHINGTON (AP) - President-elect Barack Obama on Thursday defended his choice of a popular evangelical minister to deliver the invocation at his inauguration, rejecting criticism that it slights gays.
But Obama told reporters in Chicago that America needs to "come together," even when there's disagreement on social issues. "That dialogue is part of what my campaign is all about," he said.
Obama also said he's known to be a "fierce advocate for equality" for gays and lesbians, and will remain so.
Hope is for not getting caught for backstabbing those who got him elected. Not in office yet and the backpedaling has started.

Buddhists, Muslims, the Jews, historically marriage is a man and a woman. And so I'm opposed to that. And the reason I supported Prop 8 really, was a free speech issue. Because if it had.... First, the court overid the will of the people. But second, is, there were all kinds of threats that if you... that did not pass, then any pastor could be considered doing hate speech if he shared his views that he didn't think homosexuality was the most natural way for relationships. And that would be hate speech. To me, we should have freedom of speech. And you should be able to have freedom of speech to make your position, and I should be able to have freedom of speech to make my position. And can we do this in a civil way?so now its either with us or against us, So if you support prop8 you are a bigot and you are promoting hate speech..

State: It's Discrimination Photographer Refused to Shoot Gay Ceremony

The state Human Rights Commission ruled this week that an Albuquerque wedding photographer discriminated against her would-be client by refusing to shoot a same-sex commitment ceremony.
Vanessa Willock filed a civil complaint with the labor department's Human Rights Bureau in 2006, saying Elaine Huguenin, co-owner of Albuquerque's Elane Photography, told her in an e-mail that she only photographed "traditional" marriages and would not photograph same-sex ceremonies.
In an order issued Wednesday, a panel of commissioners ruled that Huguenin discriminated against Willock based on sexual orientation and ordered Elane Photography to pay Willock's attorney's fees of $6,637.93.
An attorney for Huguenin promised to appeal in state District Court, contending the commission violated Huguenin's constitutional rights to practice her religion.
Jordan Lorence, senior counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, said Huguenin declined the job because her and her husband's religious beliefs were in conflict with the ceremony's "message."

"I feel that it is an important decision towards defining the responsibilities of business when they offer their services to the public in this state," she said.
Lorence said the refusal "stemmed from the couple's evangelical Christian and ideological beliefs, and they didn't want to further a ceremony that defines marriage in a different way, just as Elane Photography would not want to photograph a polygamist wedding," he said. "This couple is free to have any ceremony they want, but they don't have the right to force unwilling people to participate in it."
Lorence represents a conservative religious organization that frequently enters court cases involving same-sex marriage, abortion and school prayer.
Until recently, Willock was an equal employment opportunity specialist with the University of New Mexico's Office of Equal Opportunity.

Although employment complaints are more common, she said, several public accommodation complaints are filed annually, typically when people feel they have been illegally denied service by a business.
This case was unique, she said, because Willock only sought a discrimination ruling and attorneys' fees.
"Normally, the complainant also asks for damages," she said.
Typically, a discrimination investigation takes about six months, Cordova said, but this case was delayed while a federal court considered a request from the defendant that it be removed from the commission's hands.
The court remanded the case to the commission early this year, she said, and hearings began in January.
The case drew considerable attention from right-leaning blogs and publications, like the Washington Times and the National Catholic Register.
Some Internet commentators cited the case as erosion of their religious freedom, while others suggested Huguenin could have handled the situation better to avoid running afoul of anti-discrimination laws.
"Had the photographer ... simply said 'I don't think I would be a good fit for your ceremony,' or even said she had other obligations, that would have been the end of it," New Mexico blogger SJ Reidhead wrote on her blog, thepinkflamingo.blogharbor.com, which she describes as Republican, Christian, pro-immigration and pro-Bush.
Julie Sakura, an attorney for Santa Fe-based law firm Lopez & Sakura who represented Willock, said the case should not be considered precedent-setting.
"This is an appropriate application of existing New Mexico law to the facts of this case," she said.
I know this is old but it deserves another look.
As an amateur photographer myself, I must said this law-suit was just plain stupid, this damn lesbian could have took her damn ceremony to another photographer. I think she want to make a damn statement.
However, it does bring up an interesting point. What if, a group from the KKK asked her to photograph one of their so-social events and refused, would this same commission find in their favor.
What if I was being interviewed to see if I would be willing to photograph a highly sexual event and I said no, and told them I don't do such work, would that give them the right to sue me. However if I signed a contract without reading what it was that I would be photographing then withdrew, then yes they would be in their rights to sue me for breach of contract.
In this class, this very in your face dyke didn't have a contract, she was searching for a photographer, once she was inform by this Christian photographer that she wouldn't be able to be their photographer, she stewed for a while and got mad because a Christian told her NO, she in turn file this stupid ass lawsuit to make a point. The point was you don't mess with us Dykes, "we will fuck your life up". Another dyke screwing things for everyone, this reminds me of the cartoons series "Dykes to watch out for". Since this one has help to give us a bad name (photographer), I'm just glad it wasn't me, I just might have told her NO as well.

The state Human Rights Commission ruled this week that an Albuquerque wedding photographer discriminated against her would-be client by refusing to shoot a same-sex commitment ceremony.
Vanessa Willock filed a civil complaint with the labor department's Human Rights Bureau in 2006, saying Elaine Huguenin, co-owner of Albuquerque's Elane Photography, told her in an e-mail that she only photographed "traditional" marriages and would not photograph same-sex ceremonies.
In an order issued Wednesday, a panel of commissioners ruled that Huguenin discriminated against Willock based on sexual orientation and ordered Elane Photography to pay Willock's attorney's fees of $6,637.93.
An attorney for Huguenin promised to appeal in state District Court, contending the commission violated Huguenin's constitutional rights to practice her religion.
Jordan Lorence, senior counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, said Huguenin declined the job because her and her husband's religious beliefs were in conflict with the ceremony's "message."

GOP budget plan: Slash $10 billion from schools
The GOP budget plan would raise $6.5 billion of new revenue for the general fund and reduce spending by $15.6 billion over the next 18 months, about two-thirds of it from K-12 schools. The proposed cut in education is far deeper than Schwarzenegger and legislative Democrats have called for in separate plans for reducing the deficit.
how nice every time they over spent and rise their pay, and when they need to cut items out of the budget, why do they always goes to education first. Hell at this rate why have schools at all. It seen every year they cut more and more from the school budget.
The country has a reading literacy rate at 98% of the population over age 15, while ranking below average in science and mathematics understanding compared to other developed countries. In 2008, there was a 77% graduation rate from high school, below most developed countries.
The U.S. Department of Education has no formal plans to compete against China on similar initiatives at this time.
I can only guess that education isn't high on the list..
